1997 jetta didnt have key so hot wired, ran fine for few days and just wont start now , why?

The 97 Jetta has a built in security system and if you hot wire anything it interferes with it and will shut the car down and will not start again. Un hook the battery and wait 5 mins and then hook it back up. The alarm might go off so use the key to turn it off and then try to start the car. That should fix it and if not I cannot fix it without seeing it. Sorry and hope that it works for you. It has happened to me when I switched out my stereo with an aftermarket one.

Key won't come out of ignition on 1999 vw jetta

IGNITION KEY WILL NOT RELEASE

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder. I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out. If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key, or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.

----------

Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.

---------

But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.

start procedure is to hold accelerator half down, turn key, wait for injector light to go out, then hold down clutch pedal and start. do not pump the gas. just hold it 1/2 down. when car starts, release gas and then rev it up until the alternator light goes out.

If you have a ton of keys on the key chain that house the car key remove them. Then try starting the car. If this doesn't work then the release button either off the brake pedal or the shifter is stuck. Have it towed to a shop this envolves surgery.

Key won't go into the ignition

have you tried tuning the key upside down? or check to see that someone was not trying to steal your vehicle and broke something off in it? sometimes keys now days look the same on top and bottom and if it is upside down in some cars it will not go in also do you have a seperate key for the doors and ignition? if so u could have the wrong one and one last thing if you have more than one VW vehicle make sure u have the right key... other than that call the dealer.

Jetta spedo code

I think the "one" is a letter i, the upside down U is a letter n, and the zero-two is the service your car is due to go in for.
Hope this helps, D. (a VW owner myself)
