Did you replace cable ends? Sometimes the cable side gets corroded inside the wire covering. May look like the battery is clean of corrosion and well attached but it's the cable side the battery post fitting. Try changing the ends. A cheap and easdy solution.

Charging problem

Battery discharge when shut off is due to a connected add on in the truck,( 2way radio, some item plugged into the power plug, ETC). Also a bad battery will lose it's charge when not being charged,( I've seen brand new batteries do this, Have it load tested, Also the alternator can discharge the battery if the diode is defective. Depending on wiring set up the engine can shut off when you disconnect the positive cable.

Town country alternator

Check connections to Alternator and Battery. If probably connected, have someone check the Alternator output. If still good, check fuse.

My 1999linclon town car do not hold a charge overnite why

Assuming it's not the battery; have you replaced the battery cable ends that attach to the battery posts? It may look like the ends have a good clean connection to the posts but the problem may be with the cable side being corroded. Don't just clean, replace ends (they're cheap). Starting with the cheapest and easiest solution.

2005 dodge stratus wont keep battery charge

it still could be either your battery or your alternator you'll need a volt ohm meter to check the output of your alternator you should be putting out around 14.5 volts at 1200 rpm. if it dosen't replace it if it dose charge up your battery and see if it holds a charge overnite. it sounds like an alternator issue

New battery not staying charged, alternator is ok

chec all wiring for good contact--a good alternator can have a bad voltage regulator and can also draw charge out of a battery overnite--maxifuses in engine area may be faulty

My car is draining the battery. battery is new and altenator is good.can it be a bad belt causing that promblem? this will happen about five days that the car will be working good

The belt can slip if the tensioner is weak .If you here a squeal when you accelerate, its a good possibility. The Alternator can drain the battery, even if it is charging the battery. If a light is on when the car is parked, such as a door ajar, glove box light on,trunk light on,any thing that's on a hot citcuit not controlled with the ignition key, will drain the battery in a few hours or overnite,or a day or so.

My sons Lincoln Town car has a charging problem, I think! How do I rule the alternator? And does the town car need the battery to run? I always thought the battery was for starting the car?

Is the battery light on? If so, the alternator is probably bad. The battery starts the car. The car runs off the alternator, and keeps the battery charged.

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan--Previous owner told us it had elec. problems--Drove about 40 miles home with it after dark----Battery dies completely, then van quits. Alternator checks out O.K. what else can we...

The battery needs to be taken to an autoparts store such as autozone. Then will have to charge the battery overnite and then after it is well charged, then can test it. If the battery is not new, then it could be a bad cell, or the terminals could be corroded and causing it to not take a good charge.
