Question about 2001 Jeep Cherokee

Turn signal and Hazzards issue

When using the turn signals or the hazard lights after a few minutes of being at a long light and blinking the light stops blinking and it just steady. It wont reset back to normal until I turn off the car. The lights outside work and they also stop blinking but stay on just steady. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Left turn signal stops flashing when brake pedal is depressed.

there is a ground problem, most likely in the tail unit itself, but a ground problem is hard to find and easy to fix. reground the system, the turning unit, and the problem should stop. About the hazards, I don't know...... some times in older cars, that is the way it works. because the brake and hazard element in the bulb is the same and the old cars used a break in the power, but the new cars use a break in the ground. any way, chase the ground down first, it is usually the cause.

SOURCE: turn signals blinking fast and stop when brakes applied

likely not, but change /check anyhow....If problem persists, likely you will need to change the module that controls directionals (usually under dash to the right of steering column)

No break lights, blinkers or hazzards. I changed the fuses. That wasn't it. Still No breaks, blinkers or hazards. Where is the relay?

I would check the turn signal/ hazard flasher module, its on the brake pedal bracket, 5 wires, turn the hazards on and give the side of it a few raps with a screwdriver and see if it starts flashing. The PINK should have 12v. If that checks out good it may need the turn signal switch. At the turn signal switch there is a WHITE wire that should have 12v when the brake is depressed, then you should have 12 on the DARK GREEN and the YELLOW wires coming out. If the center high mounted light works, then the brake switch at the pedal is good.

it could be duel filament bulb that is blown and shorting inside the bulb to the other circuit, you may need to remove all indicator and hazard bulbs and check. I would also try a new flasher can

Turn signals don't work but hazzards do. where is the relayis lo

The turn signal flasher and hazard flasher should look identical. And they should be very near to each other. While they are working you need to put your head under the dash and listen to where the "blinking" is coming from. Even if you have to feel it!
