Question about 1991 Toyota Celica
My alternator has gone out, it is no longer charging my battery. I am looking to replace it myself and was told i need to make sure i polarize it correctly. Im hoping to find some instruction/diagram that I can follow so i Just dont blow the new one im going to have to get. Thanks
Yes..it comes with instructions. Buy from Pep Boys or Autozone and they will give you all the help you need. Best to connect it knowing US cars are negative on the chassis!

simple really 12mm wrench an socket and 14 mm wrench an socket. lossen alt bracket 14mm then tesioner 12mm slide back drop belt and reverse. unless condensioner belt in way then dro 12 mm bolts on shiled then back off 12mm bolts on condensioner pulley remove belt follow previous instructions

I think you need a new alternator. Also check every fuse in depth. Make sure all the connections are in place and secure.

If the same as my '94 cyl then you tighten the belt by loosening the bolt that the alternator pivots on and the bolt that tightens the alternator to it's adjustment bracket. For my truck this is neither fun nor easy. The a/c and power steering belts having idler pulleys with adjustments on them making them MUCH easier to deal with.
