Question about 1989 Mercury Cougar
No fuel pressure at all. Pump makes no sound when key is on. I tried resetting the Fuel Pump reset button in the trunk, but it was not tripped. I have heard that a CCRM module would prevent power to the pump. How would I check that module? This is on a 1989 XR7 Cougar, 3.8 Supercharged, five speed car.
There is a 30A fuse in the power line to the pump. Check for continuity, if the fuse is good check to see if there is 12v on the
relay input (black/yellow wire). If voltage is correct check the Mass air flow sensor operation ( you can find the procedure at the AutoZone web site in the repair manual section for your car). The MAF sensor sends the control voltage to the fuel pump relay, if that is good then the relay might be bad. If the CCRM was bad I believe it would produce a fault code. I hope this helps,
