Check the alternator, with a multimeter, is pushing correct charge after cleaning all connections to battery and alternator. If the alternator is working properly, then your battery may be faulty, get it tested at a battery shop. The shop will test the battery under load to see where it is for crank power.

Battery will stay charged

Have the battery charged and tested and then test the charging system. You should never run a car with a very dead battery. that will burn out the alternator.

71 c10 not staying charged... new battery alternator fuses good and new voltage regulator

Maybe it wasn't running long enough to charge up the battery?
Stop trying to jump it, when you are having problems with it dying, take the battery off and have it charged. And/or buy a $20 voltmeter to see what the battery shows. If it says less than 12 volts, it is discharged, and needs charging. A good battery that is not run down should have at least 12.5 volts. A new battery that is charged should have very close to 13 volts, maybe 12.8 volts.
When you have the truck running, check the alternator for charging. You put the voltmeter right on the battery and check it again. This time, with truck running, battery should show at least 13.5 volts. That shows the alternator is working. A good alternator will put out about 13 or 14 volts-the regulator will keep it from going any higher to prevent problems, like a melting battery or electrical parts burning out.
I would say get the charging system working right, then address the problem of dying at stop lights. That could be a carburetor problem, if the alternator is working.

My brand new alternator wont stay charged

Check the charging relay if working. You can find it in the fuse box which is either in the engine compartment or under the dashboard on the drivers side legroom.

I have a 2006 saturn ion-2 the battery keeps dying and wont stay charged. Whats going on with it?

If the battery is new, and you are sure it is ok, either the alternator is not charging the battery or there is something in the car that is using power when the key is off.
You could disconnect the battery at night to see if it stays charged, and-or have the alternator output checked.

Car battery keeps dying

Myguess is that you have an electrical short which is causing a drain on the battery. The way to check this is to get a 12 v test light. Unhook the negative side of the battery. Hook the test light up between the negative battery post and the battery cable. If the light comes on, You have a short/drain. To find where the short is, you leave the test light hooked up. Then you start pulling fuses until the light goes out. However, your car stereo needs to be completely unhooked before you do this test because most stereos have a constant electrical source so that the clock stays accurate and the memory stays active so your programed stations don't get lost. Starter wony turn

This most likely cause is a dying battery. Turn on your headlights (twilight is best) and have someone watch them while you try to crank the engine.
If they go very dim the battery needs replacement.
Another possibility is that the alternator is not charging the battery, but for that test you need a high current ammeter, which may force you to an auto electrician.

Have a 1991 or 1995 Intrepid and car died, tried to boost the car gave it power than died, we noticed corrosion on the posts so cleaned the posts. (Noticed lights and power was coming back on when...

did it stay running when connected to the car giving the boost? if so then the alternator is not charging the electrical system, get it serviced or replaced.
