What?? Hitting the fuel tank won't do anything. Follow the gasoline filler pipe from the gas door down to the tank. Sounds like you have a collapsed filter sock on the pickup tube inside the tank

SOURCE: auto repair shop states that fule pump needs

If that problem with the gas guage is bothering you badly enough, then you will have to replace the fuel pump. The repair shop is on the up and up. The fuel level sending unit on the Mazda 6 is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly and is monitored by the computer. If the sending unit is defective then the entire pump assembly must be replaced, since the pump cannot be disassembled. Sorry about that, but I sure hope this helped ya!

SOURCE: I have a 1995 Mazda MPV,V6,4x4,I think the fuel is not working

Don't drop the gas tank. Pull back the carpet in front of the rear seat and there will be a square cover closer to behind the passenger seat with 4 screws holding it down. Remove that cover and it will expose your fuel sending unit cover. This will be circular in shape with 6 or 8 small philips head screws holding it in place. Unfortunately they will probably be very rusty and hard to get out. You will first need to disconnect the electrical plug and the 2 fuel lines. After removal of the fuel lines and the screws carefully remove unit to expose fuel pump.

Have you ever run out of fuel in the last few months, or run very low on fuel. If so replace the fuel filter.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. You may be able to access the fuel tank by removing your bottom rear seat cushion. If no access there you must remove the fuel tank. If you have to remove the tank and it is mostly full you should siphon out as much fuel as you can into appropriate containers.

Check that fuel pump has not failed, this is most common with electric fuel pumps at tank when they are run dry of fuel.

MY VAN STARTS WHEN THE ENGINE IS COOL BUT AFTER IT WARMS UP AND I TURN OFF THE IGNITION IT DOES NOT RESTART UNTIL AFTER IT COOLS. IT ALSO HAS STALLED WHEN SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT

Check your fuel pump pressure after it dies, could be a fuel pump. Try hitting the gas tank sometimes it will make the pump start to work again. The fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel in the tank if you run your tank low alot it will overheat the pump and cause the pump to fail.

I can not figure out how to get the fuel pump out of the gas tank i have already dropped the tank and i just cant seem to figure it out . its a 1993 mazda navajo

On top of the fuel pump, there will be a metal ring around the edge, the ring will have some tabs, with a screw driver and a hammer, hit the tabs as to unscrew it, you will see the ring start to turn, keep hitting it till it comes off.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1994 mazda 626

In the gas tank. Also referred to as the "fuel sending unit" Which is the pump, screen and sender (float that sends the signal to the gas gauge) If it just stopped working get under the car and hit the tank a few times with a hammer. You don't need to hit it hard. Usually a few whacks will free up the pump and it will work again for a bit. At least long enough to get to a repair shop and save the tow cost.

Trying to troubleshoot gas not getting to the engine

Most mazdas have electric fuel pumps in the tank,Check fuses and relays first ( relays in engine bay ).If all electrics ok, have a look under the rear seat to see if there is a large 150mm cover plate, remove it and you should see the top of the fuel tank. Unplug the wires , two of them will be for the pump, check to see if there is power when the key is turned on. If not , remove the pump from the tank and get it tested and replace if necessary.
Make sure there is no contamination in the tank ( plastic, rag etc ) that caused the pump to fail in the first place.

Ran out of Gas in '96 Chev Blazer

the fuel pump motor is lubricated by the gas in your tank
when you ran out it sounds like the fuel pump motor seized and is stuck there. There is a little known thing that will get the pump unstuck if it's not burnt up .
take a hammer,yep a hammer,
have someone hit the bottom of the gas tank while someone cranks the engine, don't be afraid to hit it hard you want the fuel pump to feel the hit and loosen up,make sure your tapping the tank and not the metal strap that holds the tank up! That should get you going,

How do I replace a fuel pump on a 2002 Mazda 626?

first of all the fuel pump is in the gas tank and you have to get the car on ramps and then lower the gas tank and remove the center ring on the tank to get the fuel pump out.try these websites www.autozone.com and www.alldatadiy.com if all fails stop by your local library and get you hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car. wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
