It may be the self adjusters (if they still have those) because they are designed to adjust the brakes when in reverse.

It may be your CV joints starting to fail also. Get it checked out by a professional.

I have a 99 mustang. I went to put it in first and drive and I heard a clucking and grinding noise coming from the rear end I'm a girl and would just Like to know what the problem is....please help

If the noise is coming from below the trunk area(by the rear wheels), It may be that the differential is probably going bad and the grinding is coming from inside the differential. Inside the differential are gears and they will grind and cluck if they are going bad or bad. The car may or may not move depending on the damage inside the differential.

Awful rattling noise when reversing and turning

you are right about the bearing going to bits, it is called a CV joint. it allows the driveshafts to the front wheels to flex as you turn left or right and one is coming apart if one is going bad the other side will too soon, get them both replaced. If you don't, when it breaks completely it will cause MUCH more damage

Have a shittering and clunk on shifting and my guess is a cv joint or joints. How do I check the cv joints?

Hi, the CV joints mainly make a noise when in a tight turn and it is a cluck-cluck type sound. Test it in a tight circle to the left and the right. The inner CV's normally make a noise when travelling in a straight line and are less likley to give trouble than the outer CV's. You can also feel for wear in a CV with the wheel off the ground and see if there is any play between the wheel and the drive shaft.
Hope it helps.......

There is a noise coming from the right-front wheel area during a left turn. It almost sounds like a tire-rub on the inner wheel-well cover, but it also makes this same noise when stationary while turning...

I had this same problem and the dealer could not reproduce the noise when I would take it in to get looked at. (during the day when the temperature was warm) So I decided to leave it over night and they test drove it in the morning when the temperature was cold and they heard the noise. It ended up bing the steering rack.

Problems

I can say that as for the engine shutting off when slowing down, it sounds as though the fuel filter needs replacing. I am not sure as to what may have caused the headlight blowing twice in one month. The clucking noise you mention, does it occur only when riding over bumps? It may be a shock or strut in need of replacing. I recommend that you have that checked out. Not sure about the fan making noise on 3 or 4. There could be some debris caught in the fan housing. I sincerely hope that I have at least helped with one of your problems.

Left tie rod problem

Sounds like it may be your left CV Joint. if it is you might as well change both sides since they have the same amount of milage on them.
A total CV joint failure = Tow to the shop. Good luck and hope this helps

Won't go into reverse this morning

reverse requires more hydraulic pressure to hold it in reverse. Maybe you have a partially plugged filter that the thicker, cold fluid can't get through. The whirr could be the pump in the trannie being dtarved for fluid due to being plugged. Otherwise, you may have a bad clutch or band for reverse that requires a trans overhaul. good lcuk.
