Its hard to get consistency, the light glows everywhere. You can get a free scan at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys autoparts.

Ford explorer check engine light

Unless a code has been set the light usually comes on with the key set to run with the engine off. Suggest going to your friendly auto parts dealer and have them connect a OBDII scanner and check for codes. This service is usually complementary!

Some codes (Catalytic converter) can represent a significant expense but not interfere with the driving performance.

How to change check engine light in dash

It requires you to remove the speedometer head from the vehicle in most cases. The bulbs are small and accessible from the rear of the head. That said, they rarely fail, so my suspicion is that this question is being asked so as to be able to remove the Check Engine light, either to remove the nuisance of seeing it or to attempt to hide its presence during a vehicle inspection. Most states that have vehicle inspection laws require the Check Engine light to work, and if it does not, the inspection is a failure from the outset. Inspection mechanics are trained to check for this by turning the ignition key to the ON position without starting the vehicle, a position referred to as "bulb check". Be aware that a properly trained inspector will know if you are trying to get away with something......

Speed meter lights not working

Check all your fuses, the alero hides fuses in 3 locations open the front doors on the side of the dash board on both sides you will find fuses also in the engine compartment are fuses, this was a bad design on GM's part, they should have put the fuses related to the engine in that compartment and the lights and other interior fuses in the doors..

Cadillac eldorado 1994. Engine light does not comeon when ignition switch is turned on

Light could be burned out. Always check to see that the light comes on when you buy a used car because sometimes people will do that to hide the fact that the light is on

No communication from pcm to scan tool no check engine light on no power to term.16 at dlc connecter

Check fuses for power to the dlc. They used to hide it with the cigar lighter. It is best if you pull the fuses instead of using a test light. I have fixed problems just because the fuse lost contact in its holder.

  • Difficulties with starting a cold engine.
  • Starting the engine when engine is warmish or warm, idle rpm immediately is 1200 - 3000 rpm.
  • RPM at idle is irregular.
  • With all engine temperatures idle rpm will often vary between 900 - 1000 rpm.
  • With engine warm (90 °C) the engine temperature suddenly drops (70 °C) and slowly comes back to 90 °C.
  • Bad acceleration during warm-up.
  • Diesel Engines: Glow plug indicator may be on for a longer than normal time or at ambient temperatures where it shouldn't come on at all.
Possible Causes
  • The electrical signal coming from G62 is too low
  • Wiring and/or connections faulty (short circuit?)
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) faulty
Possible Solutions
  • Check wiring and connections
  • Check / Replace Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
Special Notes
  • In many cars between MY 1995-2002 the G2/G62 had a bad reputation for failing often. The original G2/G62 sensor is black and the improved replacements are green.

Check engine light won't turn on when ignition is started.

If you have just aquired the car could be someone has removed bulb to hide problem or it could quite simply be the bulb.
