This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..

i just had to change mine. It is under the hood, on the passenger side. Its located in a black box that has either a lightning bolt on it, or says fuses. the box is near the battery if that helps. When you open it, it will be labeled as "Auxilery Power" or "Aux Power"on the diagram located on the inside of te box. It is a single fuse. It was confusing on mine because there were two things labeled "10", but it will be a thin, probabily yellow fuse that says 25 on it. Dont get it confused with the big square grey thing on the left side. You might even have a spare fuse if you check the diagram.

SOURCE: where is the fuse for
The fuse for the cigarette lighter and the auxilliary power outlets is located in the Underhood Fuse Block. It is marked on the legend inside the lid as "AUX PWR/CIGAR" it is a 20 Amp fuse.

Check the fuse box for faulty fuses for the radio/accessories and the cigarette lighter. Replace the fuses with the correctly rated fuses.
