Is car engine ok without thremostat

Have you considered power flushing the block to remove buildup of oxidation which insulates and holds heat? I assume you have replaced the thermostat with no results. There are opinions about operating with not thermostat. Some say it prevents the engine from reaching operating temperature and therefore is running ineffectually and won't meet emissions.

I have a 2006 chrysler 300 3.5 where is the thermostat located at?

Right in the front of the engine,on the top you are going to see the radiator hose connected to the part where the thermostat is inside.

Where is the thremostat located

In BMW 328 To locate the thermostat follow the hose from the right side of the radiator to the motor at that connection there is thermostat. There should be 3 bolts which you will have to remove to take off the thermostat. In BMW 328i The thermostat is located behind the viscous fan and approx 9inches above the center of the fan. The viscous fan drives the water pump and the thermostat housing is just above the water pump at the front of the engine. The thermostat is a one piece unit and is a bit expensive £55 at dealers £42 independent. You will need to remove the viscous fan to get at it there are special spanners for this and its a 30mm socket left hand thread ( screws off clockwise). Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Thermostats are a necessary element and they allow hot coolant into your heater core. I would replace it with a dealer supplied one.
You will ruin your engine if you operate without it.

If this doesn't work have the system flushed as a last resort. Pay a little more to have a dealer do it. Well worth it.

They will also check your rad cooling ability as well ad your heater core.

Am looking for the location of the thermostat on a 1998 Dodge Stratus. It appears to be under the radiator cap is this correct?

Follow the two big hoses that are on the radiator. The thermostat is always on the engine. Some cars have the radiator cap on the engine so if the upper large hose has a sensor near or on the housing the hose attaches to then the thremostat is located under the housing.

Where is the thremostat located

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, that hose is connected to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is inside that housing.
