You are right you do have a short, but it's easy to fix at the same time it is expensive. In your trunk area you will find a bulb out relay it can be either in the right corner or left corner panel in the trunk area,if not there if may be under the rear deck of the trunk(under the rear window inside the trunk) It might be yellow brown or green. One fron the junk yard will work just as good as a new one.If you are skillful you can open it and solder the burned circuit, but you have to know what you are doing. You also neet to find out if you had a bad bulb that shorted so you can rest knowing that what caused it to burn out in the frist place is fixed.

SOURCE: rear lights not working

Toyotas sometimes have multiple power wires coming off of the battery to fuse blocks. One of these wires may be broken. Electrical schematics are available on-line or in repair manuals. If you don't have one, go to the library and look in the repair manual section.

SOURCE: 2003 parking bulb toyota tacoma

OK, I just fixed mine. The unit pulls out. You have to get a screwdiriver, wrap it with a cloth so it doesn't scratch the paint, then gently wedge the entire unit out. When it pops out, you'll see the clips that keep it in place. You might think its breaking when you pull it out, but trust me this is how you do. Just be gentle with it. After you get the unit out, simply take the socket out and replace the bulb. I did it in five minutes.

Have a Toyota Tacoma truck tail lights not working brake lights work fuses are good bulbs are goodbut no tail lights

In trucks, it's very common for the wiring harness to get pinched where the bed and the cabin come together. This leads to problems with the rear lights.
Anytime you're dealing with lights:
  1. Check bulbs, then
  2. check fuses, then
  3. check wires

First check bulbs,Then check to see if your truck has a trailer hitch wiring connector,Sometimes they use a "t" connector to split the wires.Check for broken or corroded wires around the connector.

Turn signal hazard lights work but not running lights

The parking lights should be on a different circuit from turn signals - hazard lights. The bulbs usually have two filaments, one for each circuit.
On most models there is a tail light fuse and relay that handles front and rear parking lights.

hi...

1.may be the bulb might have fused off. did you trying changing the bulb. if not try changing it and try it.

2.may be the wire which connects the bulb have been busnt out before the fuse fuses off.this is occurs because of using wrong grade fuse. try checking the wires are in good condition.

How do you change a tail light bulb on a 2006 toyota tacoma

Inside your truck bed at the rear corners there will be 2 holes at the top and bottom of each tail light. Check to see what type off screw driver is needed probably Phillips head like this (+) turn screw left to loosen. Pull tail light assembly out grab the white ring on back of assembly where bulb is out turn left and remove change bulb check to see if working, is so do steps in reverse
