underneth the intake manold is were your fuel injector poppet nozzles are, more than likely the fuel line hose that goes thru the back of the intake is split and leaking fuel underneth the intake manifold if you check the fuel pressure you will find that the fuel pressure will drop down to 0 psi as soon as the fuel pump shuts off and it should hold pressure

Well you don't say what engine it has. I just had to put a helicoil in the head of a 3.4L 'cuz it had pulled the threads out of rocker arm bolt hole for cyl. #3. Car ran great afterward.

Engine odd side black carbon even side burning good???

My first thought is a skewed O2 sensor on that side. Have the truck scanned and look at the O2 values.

If there is a carbon track on the metal plate of the Coil Module on my 1994 Firebird 3.4, that I can't just completely scrub off, should I just replace the module?

you should be fine the streak was caused from voltage leaking from a coil pack and you replaced it and cleaned the plate it was the coil at fault not the module or the plate

I have a 2001 toyota fourrunner showing computer codes p-0300 & p-0304. What are these codes for?

The P0300 is a random multiple misfire code, the P0304 is specific to the number 4 cylinder, a common problem for this code is a igniter/coil malfunction on the #4 cylinder, each cylinder has it's own coil, what you can do is to remove the #4 coil pack(it's the middle one on the driver's side) and switch it with coil #2 which is the first one on the driver's side, clear the codes and drive it if the code now shows P0302 replace the coil.

1999 Toyota Solara V6 SLE has an engine misfire, Throws check engine codes, is running lean in bank 1 any ideas?

running lean bank one; suggest a bad 02 sensor on bank one,check engine light on? suppose so, or you would'nt have codes.may be a bad coil pack on bank one. it does'nt run without a backfire right? your best thing to do is this. check engine fire to plugs that supply fire to bank one,it may have a red fire to plugs on bank one side, but you need blue fire to plugs on bank one side.[the best spark to plugs will always be blue] you may only need to replace part of the engine coil pack, they will have numbers on them[coil pack] and which cylinders that they supply spark to. if i'm not mistaken, you will be looking from front of car, look on passenger side of motor for a bad spark plug, or may even be a worn spark plug wire,inspect your spark plug wires for a worn place where the wire is exposed to ground the spark from the spark plug. pull the spark plug out and check it for carbon build up also. for carbon build up, it will be covered with hard black substance. recommend if you do replace plugs, nepindenso, no ac plugs[cheap] no ac delso,cheap. the better the plug, the better the car runs with great mileage. hope this helps,merry christmas, and as always,if you need further assistance,please repost your question and an expert will be happy to assist!

Spark plug gap on 1995 volvo 960 replaceing sparkplugs

Spark Plug removal procedure & gap info...
  • Remove spark plug access cover. (Black cover on top of engine.)
  • Once you have the black plastic cover off, number the coil packs with a magic marker 1 - 6 front to back so you can correctly replace them.
  • Coil packs are held in with a pair of 10mm bolts (A and B in the illustration. Later 960s have only one bolt at A).
  • Once you have the bolts out the pack should just pull out. A little twisting may help as there is an "O" ring seal at the top of the valve cover and a big boot at the spark plug.
  • Remove coils from spark plugs. Do NOT disconnect coil wires. (VERY IMPORTANT)
  • Inspect the condition of the wiring going to the coil pack. Look for crumbled insulation or charring. See 960 FAQ file for information on failing engine wiring harnesses.
  • If you have comprssed air blow out the plug cavity before you take the plug out. As an alternative use a vacuum cleaner and brush to clean any "stuff" out of the hole to avoid having it fall into the cylinder.
  • Remove spark plugs. Use a good quality, rubber insulated spark plug socket. Once they are unscrewed, you have to haul them up out of the hole.
  • Check and adjust spark plug gap to: 0.030" (.75 mm)
  • Install clean, "un-oiled", spark plugs and torque to: 18 ft. lbs .
  • Refit ignition coils.
  • Reinstall spark plug access cover.
  • narrow-gap risk: spark might be too weak/small to ignite fuel;
  • narrow-gap benefit: plug always fires on each cycle;
  • wide-gap risk: plug might not fire, or miss at high speeds;
  • wide-gap benefit: spark is strong for a clean burn.

Oily spark plug,changed plugs now car smokes

You changed 6 coils, but you didn't change spark plugs? The new coils give strong spark to burn off resisdues from your old plugs plus what ever left inside the combustion due to bad old coils causing smoke and bad ordor. Change all new spark plugs so you can have good ignition to burn off all junks inside combustion chambers. Smokes are at the beginning, but it will go away after less than 10 minutes.
If it is not going away you may have other problemS:
Rich mixture causing engine check light come on.
Check if engine oil level.
Check if your coolant level.
Open the oil cap to see if you have milky stuff. If there is milky stuff then you have bad head gasket.
Let me know what is coming out so others can learn from your experience. Good luck.

Weak spark from dist cap to plugs. spark from coil primary is as it should be. Plugs were carbon fouled from rich condition. this is a 92 bronco 5.8 windsor motor.changed out plugs,cap,rotor,and remote tfi...

The engine is definitely in an over rich fuel condition if you are blowing black smoke. I would suspect a bad 02 sensor, but the flooding condition you describe at starting could be other things. I would check the codes and proceed from there.

Plug replace

This is a outstanding question!!! The plugs or wires are not visible from the top or sides of the moter. You just can't see em'!!! You have to remove the large black plastic air intake. Then remove the intake manafold(not too hard to do) to access the spark plugs and wires.
Also: After removing all the black plastic air intake stuff, you'll have to remove the coil pack (long black plastic thing that says "Ecotek" on top). The coil pack is removed by disconnecting the wire connector on the driver's side end and then removing four bolts. To lift off the coil pack, you'll have to pull upwards firmly and evenly from both sides, because the spark plug boots or wires are holding onto the spark plugs as well as the coil. With the coil pack removed, look down into the silver channels - there's the plugs. To remove, you'll need a plug socket head and a socket wrench with long extension. To replace the plugs, I use an extra or old spark plug boot to hold the plug and get it started turning into the engine threads. Good Luck!
