Check for loose or cut cables on the back of your truck's OBDII connector, that could be causing a lost signal.

What if the scan is from 1988? Because I went to do it and they said they can't because the year of the car

You can scan any vehicle from 1980 on
You use a scanner or code reader for obd1 up until 1995
then an obd 2 one
You don't get much when your in the world of free

My airbag light is on. I brought it to a mechanic and he hooked it up to a machine and it said "no communication" What could this be?

u need to check all your fuses and make sure there all good,i have two diagnostic scanners at my shop in some strange cases the more expensive snap on scanner i got would communicate with the vehicle and the cheaper older unit wouldnt go figure so u may wanna have a repair shop that has the latest updated scanner diagnose your issue

when scanners don't communicate usually is because the computer is bad.

Computer connection - codes?

in 1993, the computer systems were obd 1. which generally needed battery power to run scanner. 1996 up is obd2 and powers up scanner through data connector. not sure what kind of scanner you have. is it powering up ok and not communicating or cant get scanner to turn on?

faaf2c2.jpg turn the key on if you are missing power to pin 16 run a wire from a fused key on only power source and cut the old wire about an inch from the back of the connector and splice in your new key on power wire good luck if the mechanics couldn't figure it out then this will save you some aggravation good luck please rate -jeff
