Check engine light was on, temperature gauge did not give reading of outside temperature. Scanner gave 2 codes P0073 (ambient air temp sensor circuit high) and U110E (definition not found). Sensor is located inside front bumper right below front license plate. Noticed the sensor had been hit probably by rock coming in contact or by recent snow/ice. Took 3 minutes to remove with flat screw driver and took part to chrysler dealership parts dept. bought new part for $19 (looked a little different, but same shape). Plugged it in to socket and reattached with clip. Engine light is off and the gauge is now reading the outside temperature. Easy self fix, I'm sure dealership would have charged at least $200+...

Hi,
On2.7L models, the IAT sensor is located on the left side (driver) of the Intake Manifold plenum, if you are standing in front of the car, it is the sensor right before the two vacumm hoses plugged into the Intake Manifold.

On 3.2L/3.5L models, the IAT sensor is incorporated whthin the Map sensor which is also located on the left side (driver) of the upper Intake Manifold plenum. Right by the coolant reservoir tank.

Good Luck

SOURCE: P0032 Oxygen sensor heater problem. This is on a

The sensor in question is behind the engine on the exhaust manifold.

You can test the heater in the sensor with an ohmmeter using the following procedure:

  1. Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.
  2. The white wires in the sensor connector are the power and ground circuits for the heater.
  3. Connect the ohmmeter test leads to the terminals of the white wires in the heated oxygen sensor connector.
  4. Check the resistance of the sensor, if it is not within 4-7 ohms, replace the sensor.

Codes p 1684 p 0123 p 0118 p 1193 for 2002chrysler town and county

P1684 - the battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts , pretty much harmless, maybe it's time for new battery or check battery terminal connection.
P0123- throttle position sensor high input - probably broken sensor or wire, mechanic has to check it, engine has rough/high idle
P0118 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input
P1193. Inlet Air Temp. Circuit High.
If you have all of those at once, it is not likely that 3 different sensors go bad at the same time. Check harness and connections to ECM,

What do the codes p0072 and p0073 mean on my 2008 Dodge avenger? w

Well, I would say that it means that SOMEBODY is confused!

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0072 is defined by SAE J2012 as "Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low" DTC P0073 is defined as "Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High"

I do not know how the ambient air temperature sensor circuit could be faulted both HIGH and LOW at the same time.

The only thing I have ever seen cause something like this is when people try to install aftermarket "performance chips" on their vehicles which "lie" to the computer about what the ambient air temperature is.

1 Answer

P0073

P0073 is actually for the "Ambient air temp sensor high" which is likely to be the sensor itself, or possibly the wiring for it.

you will need to test the unit with an Ohm meter (disconnected from the wiring harness, engine OFF) at different temperatures to see if you get a good reading on it.
