Question about Cadillac STS
Just seems to be an electrical issue because it will run great and then just out of the blue it won't go just revs up and seems like its in neutral . I had it towed to a shop and when they looked at it was working and had no issues
Transmission in limp mode, try flushing transmission fluid and replacing with fresh.

You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.

It seems to be stuck in 4x4 still. There could be damaged done to the powertrain by the towing company. Therefore they should be held accountable for the damage and repair that will be needed. You never tow a vehicle in 4x4 it should be carried on a flat-back. Same with AWD vehicles. The towing companies are well aware of this, is their business to know. Make sure to disengage the 4x4, put the 4x4 shifter on the floor in neutral while in park or not moving. If you continue to have problems contact the towing company and hold them accountable for it. See what you can work out with them. If they tell you they are not responsible then contact a lawyer and make them responsible for it.

I would start with a transmission fliud and filter service.
I would then have the trasnmission checked out by a transmission shop. The transmission most of the time has the direct drum band is starting to go. The shops can rebuild it no problem, This is a very common failure wiith the trasnmission.

Testimonial: "Thanks alot richtko94'! I'll try that!"
I had the same problem with my 2006 Forenza - the problem was the transmission range sensor. If you look under the hood, on the drivers side, you'll see your trans. cable connected to a round part that also has an electrical cable coming from it. That is it. Part costs $36.07 at oemsuzukiparts.com (search for Neutral safety switch in the mechanical catalog).

check fluid level, the fluid is what makes clutches ,bands ,and servos in transmission work.
the level can be very critical, either too little,or too much as well
