Question about BMW X1 Series
Hi- the lock button does not work on my X1. The dash also shows a door being open when all are closed. Is this a problem I should take to dealer for?
Door switch fail just need to change it or free it up. you will find a switch on the door behind a rubber gromet the door open the light comes on door close the light goes out and the switch tell system doors closed. more common to be the drivers door as this is the most used door. failing that there is a second switch in the door lock mechanism to get to this one you need to take the door card off, these can sometimes get damaged if some try to jimmy the door.

SOURCE: BMW remote control problem
I have a e60 525i that I just brought and it has the same problem, the owners manual suggests driving with the key in the ignition for a long time as the batteries are rechargable and may have gone flat, i have tried this and it doesnt seem to work
i also read something about getting water in the aerial about the rear window and that wrecks the receiever. My car isn;t under warranty so not looking forwarding to taking it to bmw

SOURCE: Driver door central locking
More than likely your front driver door module has failed. You will need to replace this module and readapt the key fobs for locking and unlocking

You need to tighten the lock mech on the boot lid. this will close the boot just enough more to turn the light on. It's no biggy, you might need a star driver depending on bolt head. move it into the boot lid approx 4mm to start. then 1mm until 10mm. if no joy then it may be the sensor.
All the best

Check the fob battery because if the battery has gone then you can't immobilise the car immobiliser which in turn doesn't let you start the engine however it cranking. open the bonnet and remove the clips of car battery for a good 15-20 minutes and put them back and check your remote key and try to start your car. If nothing happens then let your car diagnosed by a experienced mechanic who is able to read out the ecu codes.

SOURCE: Central Locking does not work
You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.
To reset remote you would:
1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds
2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES
3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding
4)All doors should automatically unlock
And exit the door and lock with the Remote.
