Question about 2006 Toyota RAV4
I already checked the fuse and that is not the problem. All other lights work on dash except the light for the fan intensity knob. The push button light in the center of that control works still works.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

have you checked the earthing continuity-if it's this other bulbs may also partly light when brakes used
Check continuity of live from center to lh & rh lights and/or is there a live at those lights

are all your instrument panel lights dim? i know this sounds silly but i had a person the other day who had the dimmer switch turned down. if it's not that there is a fuse for the instrument panel, looks like it should be a 7.5 amp fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box. it's very unlikely that all of those lamps would fail at the same time. hope that helps.

Lok in the trunk on the left side, behind the carpet for a small plastic box with a bunch of wires going to it. Look to see if there is brake light powe coming in with the pedal depressed. If so, and no power is coming out, you need to order and replace the "taillamp failure sensor".

It could be the relay, which is a yellow box located under the carpeting in the trunk on the left side. It is a problem common to your model. Also, check the brake switch's (behind the brake pedal) functionality (12V present with key at ACC or ON and continuity between wires when button engaged).
i hope this helps

Testimonial: "Wow! I would have never found the problem without you guys. It was the relay located in the trunk. Thanks!"
