What is the proper gapping for plugs on a 2004 ford taurus

It depends on the plug that you use. Some are Pre-Gapped.

Plug gap for the 3.0 DOHC engine is .054 if using standard platinum plugs.
Check your auto parts store to verify.

FR7DP, 4228 and Spark plugs: Champion RC8PYP 8 (or equivalent)
Spark plug gap: 0.028-0.032" (0.7-0.8 mm)

look under hood on decal. it should tell the proper gap. its on underside of hood. good-day ! if the decal is missing. call any auto parts store and they will tell you.

The spark plug gap is 0.060.Good luck.

Depending on the mileage, the excessive gap may be due to wear. It also may be from the plugs not being properly gapped when they were previously installed. I would recommend installing a new set of plugs, and setting the gap to the factory specs.

you should go with the om stats, anything else would be a mistake

look on the inside of the hood and around the engine compartment for stickers... one of them should have the information you need on them.
