Read your manual .It tells you were the fuses are.. If you use a test light, the terminal at the bottom of the lighter socket is positive and the barrel is ground.Don,t touch the two,or you will need another fuse. The fuse panel is on the left end of the dash. The cigar is #17 and radio is # 20

Its not intended to scare you, just to inform you of what your working on. you wouldnt work on your house electrical components without knowing what your doing. a car is no different.

cig lighter your pretty safe with, i usually use a test light to check power and ground of the circuit, and for checking fuses, also tool companies make a tool that plugs in the cig lighter, it has a light bulb on it, that lights up when the circuit is good, and it has 2 posts on it, power and ground you can use it for using the cig lighter to power other items, or check a ground.
its nice because basically anywhere in the car your guaranteed a good ground and power.

also check to see if a scan tool powers up when you plug it in the DLC. if it doesnt, then it will need a fuse probably.

Cigrate lighter, radio and foof light does not get on even fuses ar good for toyota corolla 2001

Check these two fuses. Fuse number 31 in fuse box location 4, if cigarette lighter, radio and clock. Else fuse number 5 in fuse box location 2, if only radio and clock and not cigarette lighter.

I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla the cigarette lighter does not work after using a small portable heater but the radio does I have check the fuse in the driver side kick panel it is fine there's there another...

check the wiring on the back of the lighter, center hot plug, side ground spade. make sure both are clean and tight.

check to make sure you can see contacts inside of cigarette lighter, just in case a small piece of plastic didn't fall/melt inside.
a new socket is inexpensive.

Location for fuze for lighter for a 1996 ford ranger

The fuse for the cigarette lighter can be found in the power distribution box under the hood, not in the fuse box within the cab. It can be located in the last row of fuses, second one from the right and is a 30 amp fuse.

My child pushed in the cigarette lighter until

you could be lucky and the fuse blew, and it could be a burned wire, check the fuse panel and replace the fuse if blown, if it blows again you have to fix the wires, and possible the cigarette lighter if it got damaged

Cigarette lighter and radio not working on Suzuki X90. Have replaced fuse. No luck. Not too concerned about radio, but would like to have power from lighter for GPS. Any suggestions?

Connect a bypass wire to another fuse such as the ACC. or directly to battery hot wire. Better yet buy a 12v accessory unit . Sold at Pep Boys etc. And connect to a hot (positive wire.). And a ground wire.
