Most likely it the result of a faulty sending unit, call an auto store and describe problem, and they can tell you which one is most likely the culprit....calling a shop can help,if their good guys, otherwise the'll want you to come in and nail you for 80 bucks and the units price which is about 25 to 30 bucks...

Your burning oil, big time. if it has the 3.8, these engines are succeptable to blowing head gaskets. have someone go over the engine, quick.

I Have a Ford Taurus 2006 when you start this car it dies and I noticed blueish smoke comes from the exhaust and the fuse blows out

Blue smoke on startup is a sign of worn valve stem seals. But worn seals wouldn't cause it to die after starting. Check the engine coolant temp sensor. Take a look at these known issues for Taurus

1985 Ford F150 302,5.0 Smoking running Rich and idling high and low

first of all u need to determine what color of smoke it is and is it coming out of the exhaust pipe. black smoke means excessive gas burning ...blue smoke means burning oil ...white smoke if seen in warm weather conditions means coolant leak into cylinder heads... but as running rich and high low idle might have a vacuum leak or carburetor need new base gasket or rebuilt ... good luck

I have a 1990 ford ranger xlt that blows out smoke from tailpipe its white with blue in it the mass airflow sensor doesnt do anything when un plugged it has a miss to its a 2.3 liter engine

Sounds like you have a blown head gasket - white smoke = coolant. Pull plugs and look for "steam cleaned plug" or for coolant in oil - looks milky.

1990 ford taurus s/w idling high. any ideas?

Sometimes a high idle can be caused by the oxygen sensor being faulty. These are available cheap on E bay @ CBS automotive. I have a contour which had the same problem. I got two sensors for under $60.00 and have had no problems as of now...Hope this helps.

Car dies if accelerator is not engaged

the starting problem could be head gasket if it got really hot..... black smoke wouldn't be oil, and gas would stink but not black smoke if it's old, it wouldn't really matter if it had been sitting for 4 months. black smoke is probably caused by a gas mixture problem, or maybe a stuck fuel injector.
