Hello and thank you for uisng Fixya.

Is there any way you can open the engine compartment?

If you can open the engine compartment, and you can have a clear access to the starter to clamp the jumper cable, then clamp it to the positive battery wire that is connected to the starter, make sure and (be very careful about it) that there is no way it will touch the body or the engie (note; when you crank the engine it will wable, and it may came loose the touch the body of the car or the engine) when you clamp the cable be very certain it's clear, then clamp the negative wire of the jumper on any metal on the engine, make sure there is no raw fuel around where you are clamping the negative.

Best suggestion is to have some one near the supplying battery or car to releas the positive of the jumper cable as soon as then engine start.Hope I helped with the repair of your problem.
An Accept from you is how I get paid.
And a positive feed back tells me how I did with the repair.

Arjun.

These additional features should be in the owners manual but just in case its not I know on some there is a manual release under the dash on the drivers side And others it is under the bumper. look hard because these where not intended for daily use and are tucked out of sight. Also if all else fails you can call the dealer and they will be able to tell you. Hope this helps. Please rate me if i've helped. Good luck.

Looked up more info on this car and found that you can also look in driver front wheel well. Reach over tire and feel behind trim and locate the cable that runs from front to rear and pull it towards you. That should release the trunk.

I have a 2000 Porsche Boxster that periodically the trunks lock down along with the gas. The car runs great and the battery in the key is not dead. Just the trunks and the gas hinges lock down. I can...

There is a manual way to open the trunks, but they can be difficult to get to. If your Boxter is anything like my 2003 911 (and it is), there is a cable pull directly in front of the passenger front tire. Turn the steering wheel to the full left, then get out and see if you can fish your hand up between the plastic splash guards for this cable. Once you find it and pull it, it should manually pop the front hood/trunk. As for why the electronic popper is not working may be some bad relay or blown fuse. May be a trip to your local Porsche mechanic. Good luck.

1998 porsche boxster, battery is dead on car, and

This is a common problem. Your alarm was on when the battery went dead. When the alarm activated, the hood/bonnet opening lever locks to prevent thieves from opening the hood in case the top is down. Some boxsters have a jumper post the pulls out near the fuse box. However, I do not think the 1997-1999s have this post.

Buy a male-to-male cigarette lighter adapter at the auto store. Connect between your car's cigarette lighter socket and the other car's cigarette lighter socket. Do not try to start the ignition or the any other electronics. You should not even need the key in the ignition. You should be able to pop the door locks with the remote and open the bonnet.

Battery dead; cannot open hood

If the cigarette lighter is an unswitched power point you could use it as a location to put a very small charge, just enough to get the hood release solenoid to activate. Years ago there was a device that was a male cigarette lighter power point at both ends and enough cable to go from car to car. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT OPEN HOOD, DO NOT TURN KEY TO RUN OR ATTEMPT TO START. ANYTHING COULD RESULT. MINOR OR MAJOR. THERE IS A COMPUTER MEMORY SAVER THAT MATES A 9 VOLT TO A MALE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG THIS MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO RELEASE HOOD BUT MAYBE WITH A 12 VOLT FLASHLIGHT BATTERY (2 6 VOLT BATTERIES) WOULD WORK TO OPEN THE HOOD. (TURN EVERYTHING OFF EVEN DOME LIGHT.)
