I HAVE A 1984 CADDY DEVILLE WITH THE HT4100 THE AIR PUMP BELT IS LOOSE WHAT CAN I DO TO TIGHTEN THE BELT IS THEIR A PICTURE OF THE PUMP AND WHERE THE BOLTS ARE

I DONT REMEMBER HOW TO TIGHTEN IT

You probably have a bad tensioner, you cannot tighten a bad tensioner because the bearrings inside have gone bad so your belt will just keep coming off. I had the same problem, don't wait to fix this because your car can over heat, you can lose power steering without proper belt tension. Pay the few dollars now(and I do mean few) and avoid problems later.

there is a fuse in the engine compartment and a relay located on the drivers side behind the air filter housing, there should be a black box type cover with an access for fuses with a diagram check the fuse then pull the cover and check the relay,it also could have a bad fuel pump, or plugged fuel filter

To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement.
If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired.

I have a 84 caddy deville,why is the ful pump fuse keeps blowing


either the fuel pump is shorted, the wiring going to the fuel pump is shorted to groung, or 1 other option, the oil pressure switch is shorted. gm back then ran the fuel pump wiring to the oil pressure swtch as a back up system for the fuel pump. one of these is your problem

It only does this when its very cold outside, but my 1984 Volvo 240 is squealing very loudly when I accelerate? What would be causing this and how can I fix it?


Probably a slipping fan belt. Check the belt tension when it is very cold and see if one of the belts is loose. If so, loosen the bracket bolts to the alternator, power steering pump, or air pump (if equipped), and pry with a large wooden broom handle against the appropriate item until the belt is tight, then tighten the bolts.

My son removed the alternator of his 99 Caddy but doesn't remember exactly where each bolt was originally located that attached the alternator and some surrounding pulleys. They are of different lengths...


The Double threded Bolt IF it ia A Long one is for ALT. and P/S Pump FixYs's Little Picture Posting tool Does Not Work so i Cnt Post picture and I DOUBT if you can Find One THAT Detailed Sorry But Here is the Install Written Procedure

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
  1. Install the generator.
  2. Install the front generator/ A/C bracket. NOTE : Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Connect the following electrical connections:
Tighten
Tighten the battery output cable to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) .

  • Heated windshield (it equipped).
  1. Install the duct to the back of the generator. Align the duct to the generator black duct.
  2. Install the upper rear mounting bolt. Tighten Tighten the upper rear mounting bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).
  3. Install the lower rear mounting bolt. Tighten Tighten the lower rear mounting bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft) .
  4. Install the front mounting bolt. Tighten Tighten the front mounting bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft) .
  5. Install the rear generator bracket bolt to the engine. Tighten Tighten the bracket mounting bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft) .
  6. Install the upper front bolt.
  7. Install the radiator support access panel.
  8. Install the front engine splash shield.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Tighten the upper front bolt. Tighten Tighten the upper front bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft) .
  11. Install the accessory drive belt.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft) .

Hi , my caddy is overheating when the car run over 80 miles i have changed thermostat , water pump and ridator but the car still over heating just when the cat run only ! it`s 2000 DTS


Maybe the Wrong water pump, there maybe a pump with a serpentine belt and one with regular fan belt. The pumps work in different directions. Or thermostat was put in incorrectly.

I have a 1989 caddy sedan deville. The smog pump seized up and froze. I need to remove this pump. How long of a job is this and can I gut the insides of the pump out and replace it as just an idler pulley?...


Replace the pump as it does other things than just pump air into the exhaust. I helps in cold starting and keeps the engine from backfiring during deceleration. You can cause the converter to fail also. I have a service manual and it tells you to first loosen the pulley bolts on the pump first then remove the belt and pulley. Remove inlet hose and outlet hose then the mounting bolts .

Trying to locate water pump on my 2000 caddy deville


Its on the same side of the engine as the transmission, driven by the belt up top. It requires a special socket to remove the pump from the housing.(also, the pump turns clockwise to remove!)

Here's a tip that i hope works for you, If you look on the accessory belt routing, it may have a diagram on it for the option "with A/C" and "without A/C" All you need to do is look at the diagram "without A/C" and make sure there's not an idler pully inplace of the A/C pump. Then all you do is order a serp belt for same make/model/engine car, just without A/C which will take up for the excess slack in the old belt. Allthough it is a caddy, it may have no option without A/C, meaning every caddy had A/C. Something to look at, and also try calling your nearest advance auto or autozone and have them look it up without a/c, and ask if that is an option.
