Motor oil in power steering reservoir?? How or what causes this to occur? PLEASE HELP!

I can not see how engine oil can get into the power steering system. Even if the pump is gear driven from the cam or crank and leak would allow steering oil into the sump and not the other way around. I think that he oil you are seeing is the power steering oil badly burnt from a failed pump. It is possible for some one to put engine oil in or an additive that was incompatible with the steering oil .Pull a hose and drain the fluid out of the reservoir. Do this 2 or3 times . I imagine there will be pump damage already so if you are prepared to drive to the garage for repairs do it in anticipation of complete steering failure and keep the speed down Personally I would put it on a tilt tray and have it delivered to the garage. It may be cheaper in the long run

Its very hard to steer my steering wheel

Chances are you dont have any power steering fluid in your power steering pump. Either that or your pump just went out. If you ran your pump completely out it probably went out also. So the solution is probably going to be get a new pump but you can try to add some fluid first. You might get really lucky and it still work. Hope this helps.

Bleed power steering on 2008 dodge avenger

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping, wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle, let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right, have vechicle towed to a garage.

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L. About a couple of months ago, my dad did a tune-up on it: changed the spark plugs, the O2 sensors, and the fuel filter. However, recently my car has started...

is there a check engine light on when truck is running ? Does it stall when you hit bumps, only when you turn, stop ? ( my concern is the sometimes dont start.) for a minute or next day or what. Take it to a garage and have them do a fuel pressure test. Fuel pumps act up like this a couple times before they fail. if pressure checks good then i would check vacuum lines or wiggle all electrical wires for grounding which stalls car. AGAIN, GET THAT FUEL PRESSURE CHECKED before you start guessing and replacing everything.

No power steering

You need to put the car up on axle stands or ramps. Look for a lose or missing power steering belt, fluid leaks from hoses and fittings. You should check the fluid level first since you can do that from under the hood. Look up online repair guides to see if you want to try it yourself or take it to a garage. You might be able to fix leaking fittings by simply tightening them. So it's worth a try if you have ramps or axle stands.
