SOURCE: f150 transmission neutralizes when shifts to overdrive

I have that exact same truck and transmission and My Transmission did the exact same thing about a year ago and there was some kind of snap ring inside the transmission that broke. I originally thought it had to be an electirical problem because the truck shifted fine until OD or if i turned OD off. The 4r70w is a light transmission and i would suggest you have a shift kit put in and they make a heavier kit to beef it up.. Sorry its probably not the new you were looking for.

SOURCE: how replace a transmission modulator valve on

It is located on the transmission with a vaccume line going to it. There is a clamp with a bolt that holds it to the transmission. It is an easy fix.

SOURCE: illustrated diagram on how to remove speed sensor for windstar 98

The Vehicle Speed Sensor is located on transaxle, at the rear of the engine. I would check the harness connector to be sure it is clean and connected tightly. Also check the wiring for cuts and chaffing. Since it is fairly inexpensive, only about $42.00 from Ford, you may want to consider replacing it, at least to eliminate it as a possibility. You may want to go to a muffler shop to have this done like speedy, I believe the flex pipe needs to be undone to get to the VVS. If there is an Auto Zone around your area, you could always ask them for the step by step instructions to replacing the VVS, and it's free of charge. Good luck and hope this helps.

polarcycle is right but there is a speed sensor on the drivers side top of the trans. toward the tail shaft or transfer case. there is as well a sensor inside the trans. itself that is mounted on the web. behind the overdrive band and drum.

SOURCE: transmission control solenoid location for 96 ford f150

whether it is the smaller (4R70w) or the bigger (E4OD), the solenoids are under the pan. The E4OD solenoids are in one big block where the other trans has them seperated

MY TRANSMISSION RANGE [TR] SENSOR ON 1999 FORD F150 KEEPS FLASHING ON AND OFF WHAT DO I DO TO FIX IT?

Im assuming that you are talking about the transfer case range sensor. I would first check it for mud/corrosion where it plugs in on the transfer case. If that is okay,..then most likely the sensor will need to be replaced.

Need a starter wiring diagram for a 1998 Ford F150 4.6L Triton V8

Wow, I can supply that but there are so many factors when determining the correct diagram for this vehicle.

1) The 8th VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) digit. Is it "6' or "W"

2) Automatic or Manual transmission

3) With or Without "Anti-Theft Personality" option

Post the above info and I'll post the correct diagram.

Where is the back up light switch located on a 2004 Ford F150 with automatic transmission.

The "reverse switch" or backup switch is part of the DTR ( Digital Transmission Range Sensor ) on the driver's side of the trans, about half way on the trans.
This has ( if memory serves me correctly ) 14 wires from it, as the neutral switch ( starting ) and reverse lamps are only part of the operation ( other parts include the SOTF for the 4x4 ).

1998 ford 4.7l runs too lean po1151,po171,whats this mean and how too fix, hesitates when i punch it and back fires

Could be a bad mass air flow sensor. with the engine off unplug the sensor then test drive with sensor unplugged.(you can do this with almost all the sensors on this vehicle). It will replace the sensor data with a default parameter. If problem persists check fuel pressure.

Transmission

If it is an automatic the best thing to use is chrysler automatic trans fluid Most 1998 Ford F150s take Mercon V...also check for leak. The transmission dipstick is located on the passengers side rear. Near the firewall / or back of the engine. The dipstick is color yellow or red. use long funnel.

1990 6 cyl F150 transmission fluid change.

If it's manuel you just need the oil, there is a fill hole and a drain hole on the side of the transmission. If it's an automatic, there is an transmission filter that need to be changed if it's been there long enough.
The cheaper way to change the transmission fluid is to have a transmission shop flush it out with a transmission flush system that connects to the high pressure side transmission line and it replaces the old oil with new one and check the transmission line pressure too. This re places 15 liters of fluid. The more expensive is if you just drop the transmission pan and change the oil and filter you only replace about 3 liters in total and if you don't mind the mess you can do it your self for around $50.00 for the filter, gasket and Transmission oil.
Good luck and keep me posted.
Keep me posted and good luck, be glad to help.

Help on the sequence of the automatic transmision ford f150 90 v8

if youve got transmission fluid in it and it wont do anything it is a bad transmission, if it isnt shifting in a correct order then your then your modulator valve is unhooked, bad, or isnt on it and you have to buy one for about twenty dollars or so i think. I cant remember if it is on the drivers side or passengers side. It looks like a spark advance. I hope that helps you out.
