SOURCE: Need to replace ignition cylinder on 2000 Impala

Pop off the black ring around ignition lock small screwdriver willl do. Remove dashboard plastic to expose 2 bolts holding ignition assy. Can be tedious. IF you can turn the key turn it to Start. In the plastic housing there's a 1/4 by 3/8 hole. push in a screwdriver which will push in a button on ignition cylinder and allow you to slide it out. The hole is located at 4 o'clock if we agree that the 2 wiring harness plugs are at 6 o clock and its 1 and 1/4 inches below the face of ignition cylinder. If you dont feel that the screwdriver is pushing in that "button" rotate your key until it does. Then just slide the cylinder out.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevrolet Impala Door Locks Suddenly Quit Working

Passenger side of the fender under the hood - check the fuse relay box - about $12.00 a piece - they do go bad from time to time.
exchange the power lock relay with another one and test the locks.
then put the relay back and go to the autostore.

SOURCE: i have a chevrolet impala 2002, my air

No. Most likely it is the blower module. It is on the passenger's side lower part of the dash panel.

1995 olds cutlass serpreme starts jerking when i get speed up to around 50 and 60 miles per hr.

it either has a cylinder misfire or is running lean. Sometimes the air flow sensor gets a varnish coating on the heated wires and needs to be cleaned with spray carb cleaner

Where is the idle sensor in the 2000 chevy impala

There is no idle sensor on the 2000 Chevrolet Impala, according to my online resource.

But, there is the following that senses rpm of the engine and thus the idle speed when the Throttle Position Sensor is at 5% or the accelerator pedal is not depressed:

Crankshaft Position Sensor Operation Engine speed is a very important input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Crankshaft speed and position are the basis for many calculations made by the computer. Crankshaft position values are transmitted to the computer by pickup coils also known as Permanent Magnet (P/M) generators, Hall Effect sensors or optical sensors. The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) also known as engine speed sensor is typically located in proximity to the crankshaft.
In addition, the PCM uses the CKP sensor in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor to calculate and perform misfire diagnostics.
Related Symptoms
  • A No Start / Intermittent Start condition - Can be caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor due to loose connections, bad grounds, high resistance in the circuit, or opens in the circuit.
  • Engine Misfire Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NOTE: Engine Mechanical conditions can also create the same or similar symptoms. (Don't overlook basic mechanical integrity).

I am working on a 05 Impala and the car always ran fine until about a week ago when it was having trouble starting. You had to crank it over for quite awhile to make it start, once it started it ran...

I would tend to believe that its a cps cam or crank positioning sensor depending where it is on the flywheel if it stop on a good spot it starts and if started on a bad spot it wont I had a dodge that did the same thing.

Vehicle will not start for 15 t0 20 min.after

Could be several problems with a car that old:

1. Weak coil
2. Failing fuel pump
3. Failing crank sensor
4. Failing mass airflow sensor

How do I change the coils on a 2000 Jaguar S-type 4.0.

2000-2002 S-Types are horrible for this problem. Especially around 80,000 miles or more.
You are feeling a misfire(s). If no check engine light, then the computer can't determine exactly which cylinder is misfiring. Yes the coils are under the black covers on top of the cam(valve) covers. One per clyinder. I would recommend replacing all eight as the new coils are a newer design and if you just replace one now you will be replacing them one by one very soon. Make sure the tech inspects the cam(valve)cover seals for leaking, as they are bad to leak into the spark plug wells and cause same problem. Also change spark plugs as well at this time. Good luck!
