Question about 2008 Kia Carens 2.0
Hi, Engine management light came on a while back and after paying for the car to go the diagnostic machine at KIA I was told I needed a new EGR valve, DPF filter and manifold pipes cleaned. All the work has been carried out by a smaller independent garage due to cost. They have rest the warning light but it still displays after a short drive. Any ideas please??
the problem that you have is not caused by hardware, it is a software bug, know fixes and bulletin mentioned it clearly.
you need to arrange for appointment to the dealer for software update. GOOD LUCK

There is a good chance it could be your fuel pump , however if the check engine light is coming on and the dealer cant tell you what is wrong , try a different dealer or another shop. Second opinions never hurt.

This sounds like the idle air control valve. This valve sits on the inlet manifold and basicly regulated the flow of air for tickover( or idle). The usual operation of this valve is, when the engine is running at high speed the valve will be closed, when the engine comes down to idle, the main throttle butterfly will shut as you lift your foot off the pedal. The idle valve will open and give a small amound of air to the engine, just enough to run it at idle speed. These valves can stick open, therefore letting air in when the throttle is open, giving the engine too much air. WD40 is only a temporary repair untill it jams again. Best course of action is to have part replaced.

the purge valve i believe is located near your gas tank unless theyve moved it i should look like a little canister cyclinder shaped. both codes could be set off by the same problem. try replacing the valve.
