Unless leak has gotten bad enough to lower the fluid level dramatically fixing it will not improve slippage, slipping is worn clutch surfaces or low engagement pressure, (low pressure could result from really low fluid) If you fill it to full and it still slips fixing the cooler will not help, but fixing the cooler leak is a necessary item to do anyway, keeps oil out of our ground water and off the roads making them slippery for motorcyclists.

How do you replace the transmission cooler on my 89 oldsmobile cutlass supream

Your trans cooler is located inside one of the radiator tanks and would be expensive to replace.
You can either replace the radiator with new or used or cut the lines and install an external cooler as is used for towing. If the cooler in the radiator is leaking, you need to flush the system to remove as much oil as possible or it will cause hoses to soften and fail. Also wise to change trans fluid as well.
Always use double clamps when running rubber lines for cooler so they don't slide apart under pressure.

The coolant jug has a creamy tan color fluid in it

that means trans fluid or engine oil is getting into cooant system. Not good. Either a leaky trans cooler in the radiator or a blown head gasket. Hope it's the trans cooler

I'm losing automatic transmission fluid. Is there any common history to support a theory of leaking transmission cooling lines?

I just checked for technical service bulletins and there is nothing for leaks from tranny or lines. Your vehicle is 15 years old if they havent been replaced yet it is possible it it just time to change them. Check where it goes from metal to rubber on the lines that is most likely where it will be wet. If itis wet there more than likely you'll need new lines

Trans, cooler ? Does the Dodge 2002 Intrepid have a transmission cooler, in front of or near the radiator, if so can fluid leaks occur after replacing the main radiator on the car. Have one that has leaked...

Hi:
You are correct. Almost all automatic cars have a transmission cooler connected to the radiator with 2 hoses, near the bottom. If the hoses are leaking or not installed correctly, all of the fluid from your transmission will get pumped out on the ground, and you won't be able to move the car. Inspect the two hoses and hopefully you will find your problem.

How do you install an external transmission cooler on a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder?

  • you need to remove the lower front skid plate, to acsess and remove one of the trans cooler lines that go into the bottom of radiator.
  • it does not matter which one.
  • there will be about a quarter cup of fluid that will leak out. No big deal just have a drain pan handy to catch the mess.
  • The external cooler hoses gets hooked up, one to the radiator and the other to the line that was unhooked from the radiator.
  • The cooler gets mounted up against the condenser, so you may have to remove the grill so you can slip the cooler behind it in a convenient location.
  • Most coolers come with fasteners that are fairly easy to use. They are nylon stakes that are like a stiff nylon tyrap with a flat locking retainer.that hold the cooler against the condensor and/or radiator
  • All you do is push them through the cooler, then condenser, and/or radiator fins, and click on the retainer..
  • Dont forget to messure and replace the fluid that leaked out.
  • Always use new clean stuff.
I hope this helps,
If it does, dont forget to leave us your feedback.
Thanks.

1998 pontiac transport 3.4 auto leaking trans fluid

It sounds like the Transmission line has a leak. Check the transmission line from the transmission to the radiator. You have two steel lines which runs to and from the transmission to the transmission cooler in the radiator. The line could be corroded and may need to be replaced, good luck and service the transmission too. The transmission on the transport are know to have problems when ran low on fluid or dirty transmission filter.
Good luck and hope this helps.
