SOURCE: where is throttle position sensor located on 2000 honda passport

Normally attached at opposite end of throttle linkage. Remove your air cleaner intake hose at throttle body, and observe throttle plate that opens & closes as you press accelerator, it will be at the end of that, on outside of housing.

Here are just a few causes--- Dirty air filter, faulty oxygen sensor ( check engine light will be on)--- Defective map sensor ( MAP ) manifold absolute pressure sensor. Defective tps ( throttle position sensor ) Defective ect ( engine coolant temperature sensor. This is just a few causes. If the check engine light is on, You can go to any auto parts store and they will read the code for free. God-Bless!

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor. it used to monitor the position of the throttle in an engine. it usually located on the butterfy spindle so it can directly monitor the position of the throttle valve.

98 Mercury Mystique 2.5 6cyl., I got a scanner code of 1121. Issue, car would hardly start then not start after a few tries. Disconnected MAF and car started and runs, a little sluggish at take off. What...

PO 1121 ---Throttle Position Sensor Inconsistent
with MAF Sensor

PCM monitorsTPS to MAF readings

If readings are not consistant with calibrated load values
the test fails & a DTC is set on your dash (1121)

Air Leak between MAF & Throttle Body
Bad TPS
Bad MAF

With the MAF disconnected you have no way to
monitor the air intake or air temp.

I would suggest you let a repair shop diagnose your issues

I have a 95 mercury mystique and it starts but but

THE ENGINES THROTTLE BODY HAS A TPS WICH IS CALLED A THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR

It has a built in reostat inside of it which can get a flat spot anywhere in its circuit explaining why your car hesitates or sounds like it is ready to stall out
'
I would replace it and have the voltage set at 1.5 volts when set at the idle position
Then it should run fine again

: don't misplace thermostat housing seal inside housing.
