Have the charging system checked out.... Possibly you have an intermittent connection from the Alternator, or a possible bad alternator.

Why 3 wires on plug going into alternator .

Battery, ignition, and computer (regulator). Mine had shorted wires when I took off all the tape. But, my alternator tried because my short was intermittent. I giggled my harness and it kinda worked.

Intermittent charging

Sounds as if the voltage regulator is going bad. Most are now located on or inside the alternator itself. Passing the test with the problem being intermittent makes a case for the regulator. I suggest getting a regulator, or replace the alternator with a friends if you have one whose model will fit.

Battery is draining, alternator appears to charge intermittently. Both the Battery and alternator have been replaced. Where do we look next?

Is the drive belt to the alternator tight? Check the battery voltage with the engine running--it should read ~13.5 volts which means the alternator is working correctly. If it reads 12.6 volts or less, the alternator is not putting any new charge into the battery. With engine off, remove the negative battery cable and place a test light between the cable and the battery post (make sure that everything is turned off). If it lights up, there is some load taking charge from the battery. Try removing a fuse at a time to see if the light goes out. Make sure there is no 'hidden' load like an under-hood light or glove box light that is on. Hope this helps!

Headlamp not working and engine loses power

sound like alternator is not charging battery.hook a digital voltmeter to battery.crank engine up.battery voltage should be 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts.with engine running.if not alternator not charging.i warn people head of time.turn off radio before disconnecting negative battery you wont loose radio playing this if you are going to remove alternator your self.besure let the auto parts place check the alternator first to make it is faulty.if alternator good you have blown fuse or link and the alternator electrical connectors could be damaged.

2003 Dodge Caravan Battery?

Sounds like time for new battery, give it a full charge & have it tested, but have alternator checked as well, even though it appears alternator is o.k. because it runs, but just in case it's an intermittent problem with alternator
