My cabin air filter was wet and frozen, I had no air flow to defrost or heater what would cause the water?


When you run the defroster and in some models the heater, the air conditioner compressor comes on to take the moisture out of the air. When this happens the evaporator collects the moisture in the condensation pan and if there is debris blocking the drain, you have water build up. There could have been ice in the condensation pan or drain already or you have water coming in through the intake area that is just under the bottom of the windshield.

I have a 100,000btu torpedo type heater/it will not run unless i block air intake about 80%. What is wrong??


the heater should fire up within seconds of plugging in and turning on.. if not check for alignment of igniter with the spray of fuel ..there is a safety issue with these if they dont fire up almost imediately..realign the igniter into the back of the fuel spray and make sure it works within 1-3 seconds..otherwise you will get fumes instead and a blowup is likely..do this outdoors so in case there is an issue it dont set anything on fire...be careful..

I replaced the heater blower under the dash and its blowing very little air out and it not very hot please help


The heater core could be plugged up or the temperature mixing valve could be defective. Also there might be a restriction in the intake part of the heater assembly. There may be debris in the intake where the air is pulled in from outside or from the cabin.

DTC P0540: Intake Air Heater - Incorrect Voltage

The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses an Intake Air Heater (IAH) to warm the incoming air for proper cylinder combustion. The ECM grounds the control coil of the IAH relay to energize the heater during cold weather operation. If the ECM detects voltage on the IAH circuit when the relay is commanded OFF, or incorrect voltage when the relay is commanded ON, this DTC will set.


There are several possible causes for this code including:

Faulty IAH Relay

Faulty IAH Relay Control Circuit

Faulty Line Voltage Reference Circuit

Faulty Heating Element

Faulty ECM

2001 Monte Carlo. Overheating and heater blowing cold air. Already replaced intake Gaskets, cap, Thermstat, had coolant in in oil before intake gaskets. Oil is clean now. It seems to be loosing coolant....


Park the car uphill, take cap off radiator, start car, fill radiator, let it warm up until thermostat opens, bleed air out, fill to the neck of the radiator and watch for bubbles coming up. Once you have bled the air, if gas continues to come out, you have a blown head gasket. Also check the exhaust for excess moisture and the smell of coolant. You may be able to determine which gasket is bad by looking at the plugs and/or running a compression test. Let me know if you have more questions.

My heater blows out cold air all the time when on, what could cause warm air not to come out


either the vent system is stuck on the fresh air intake or the heater core is plugged, Does it smell funny or just cold. this is not an easy thing to fix it takes ripping apart the dash to check the intake flapper or ripping apart eh dash draining the coolant from the engine, replacing the heater core under the dash and then flushing the system.
It can be done but will take some time and thinking to get the dash apart they don't make it easy. your call

No heat in 93, 454 heater


If you haven't already, try replacing the thermostat located on your engine's intake at the upper radiator hose. If that doesn't work, it may be in the control pannel for your heat on your dashboard, causing the heat switcher in your air box not to switch. Also check the cable on the air box, as sometimes when you do a heater core the cable may not be exactly back in place, or it may have been bent.
