2005 Dodge Caravan headlight stay dim when turned on

I've replaced battery and alternator thinking voltage was low. Turned out to be that the daytime driving lights are not switching to nighttime headlights when turned on with headlight switch. Parking lights come on and high beams will only flash and not stay on. I suspect the headlight switch but am not sure as I don't not have a book to look at electrical diagram of van.
Appreciate any help or common experience from someone else.
Thanks
JOE

    Thanks for the reply.
Is that in that relay/fuse box?
Can it be purchased at a parts sore or dealer?
    Thanks

I picked up a Haynes manual today for a schematic and I'm not happy with it. I took switch out and apart and found some of component depend a press fit to the circuit board instead of a solder joint. I wiggled everything around and reseated, lights work but have done this before. If it reoccurs I think I hard solder all external connectors and see what happens. In looking at the schematic some of the wires went into computer data lines AGGHH!!!! I'll let you know.

Control modules tend to be scattered everywhere. Chrysler likes to hide pieces, too. my gut tells me it's lumped with the circut breakers for power accessories (look behind the glovebox).
a high end parts chain might carry the module, but it might be a "dealer only" item instead. if you have a library handy, have a peek and see if they have Chilton manuals available you can copy info from.

Get a load test on both. There are 2 components to checking the system voltage and amperage. You can have good voltage but low amperage which will cause issues. 12.75v is low. A battery fully charged should be closer to 13.8v and charging should be around 14.4v

voltage at battery, car off. shoud be at least 12.6 volts. when running if all belts are ok it should read at least 14.2 to 14.7 if alternator and curcuit are ok. if voltage is less than above replace alternator. because it has the voltage regulator on inside of alt. good-day!

2002 Dodge Caravan headlamps: one works on dim the other works on high beam but not together. Also only one daytime running lamp.

Your van has dual diligent headlamp bulbs, that means each headlight has one bulb that serves as high beam and low beam. What has most likely happened is on one side the low beam filament has burnt out, and on the other side the high beam filiment has burnt out. The daytime running lights are just the high beam filament running on reduced power, so if the high beam doesn't work on one side, that same side will have no daytime running light. Replace both headlamp bulbs with matching, good quality bulbs.

Lights dim on 1997 stratus while driving

It may be that the alternator is not capable of supplying the power needed to run the engine, accessories and lights for long periods. It may be able to supply power for daytime running but lights, especially headlamps, draw a lot of power. Have the alternator output checked with everything turned on and check the output at the back of the alternator AND across the battery. You may also have a voltage drop from the alternator to the battery which is why I say check the alt at both ends of the output circuit. Be careful when undertaking this, moving parts and fans etc WILL remove bodily parts..

Need to know what p0622 and p2503 diagnostic codes are. is this my battery? this is on an 2005 grand caravan

Sounds more like an alternator problem. Check output voltage of alternator, code P2503 indicates low voltage. Check/clean all connections at battery and alternator, as well as check all fuses/relays under hood in fuse relay box, just in case fuse blown as well. If all checks out good, you may need a new alternator.

Headlights won't come on intermittently 2005 Dodge Caravan

Quite possibly the switch, Dodge minivans also have a front control module located under the hood, it attaches directly to the underhood fusebox, if a switch doesn't fix it I would look there.

Headlights alternate on and off left and right daytime/high beam

although the underhood relay panel is common, I'd check your headlamp bulbs first, these are cheaper than the fuse box. The daytime running lights work off the high beam circuit, thus, a blown highbeam bulb could be the culprit, the fusebox solution was more common on 2001 and up modles, although it's a definite possibility.

No gauges engine light on

most auto parts stores like auto zone will test your battery free of charge. that would be the simplest way to test it. check the water level in it if it is a servicable battery.
