The only real thing you can do is get a throttle body spacer. it allows for more airflow. Other than that if you want a faster car buy a different car. Your Audi is designed with very strict tolerances and changing something means that you have to change a lot of things to not get engine failures this includes mufflers and exhaust components. your car is designed to work off the back pressure created by the exhaust changing this will result in hard starts poor emissions and fuel economy. A full high performance exhaust system on a high performance car will gain you 3-5 HP that is it. Adding a turbo requires an entire engine rebuild, the pistons connecting rods crank valves are not designed to handle the added pressure and will fail one at a time. So if ou want a faster car buy a different car.

My audi a4 2001 will not start first time but after a few turns it starts

It will run with timing belt off only a couple of teeth

That could be your problem, as you were told, still have
to do some kind of testing or look at some data

What troubles me, is you paid for something & expected

When you say serviced, I will assume you talking a dealer
possibly, not that it matters where you went, they should be
checking the entire car.

Not to pitch you more work or expense, but to inform you
of the vehicles overall condition.

That doesn't seem to ever be done

I actually stop using all my vehicles for up to a
week,sometimes twice a year & go completely
thru them. I have done that for 50 years come the
end of this month. I have problems like everyone,
but I also know what does work & the overall condition
of most of the vehicle.

There is no guessing when something happens,I go
to the things I don't know about,as I know how
everything else is performing

I recently had my 1998 a4 1.8t quattro in the shop and I was told that my turbo is not working. Ive noticed no change in performance so I'm assuming it wasn't working when I bought it 3 months ago....

Hello! You have a couple of options...# 1..It is important to maintaining the life of the car and also its resale value...I've included two diagrams of the turbo... The second of which is all off the vacuum lines....I do not know what the mechanic said was wrong with it, however the vacuum lines are worth a look and the possibility exist to fix it...#2...I would recommend taking it to another mechanic for a precise diagnosis of the problem... and, yes if you can find another, if in fact it needs to be completely replaced, Ebay is a good choice or

We are showing a code P1404 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance. What does this mean and how do we get it fix?

The EGR on the Ram frequently stick in the partially open position. The dealer stocks them so you know that they aren't fault proof. I did have luck soaking one in a decarboning solvent for a few hours on the bench. The guy never came back (could be a bad thing i suppose). I think it workied out for him however I've changed a few.

Good Luck

I have 1997 Expedition 5.4 motor is no good.I Need to know what to look for in a junk yard and make it faster engine.

Wouldn't you ask that question when you get
to the salvage yard

They have the inventory & all the data you need

You will be replacing the engine with the same thing
you have

If you want performance you have a local machine
shop rebuild yours & make a few changes

I wouldn't buy anything used for any product of
mine,never a motor vheicle

It is some elses worn out parts like yours

No such thing as good used

Hi I ve got a audi A4 1997 and haf model. I ve got a problem whith the radio. I used to push the code when I the power went out whith 'Scan' and 'RDS' bottons as I know but doesnt works yet. Starts whith...

You must have the security anti-theft code for your Audi radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Audi dealer!

You can find the radio code at:

The sequence of programming for 1997 Audi A4 radio is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
For example: we have the security code "5079". Then:
3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted.
4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted.
5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted.
6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed.

The radio is now ready for use!

I`ve got a 99 buick regal GS, I think it`s using to much gas, I `ve put in a new oxygen sensor, didn`t help, what are more options

Have a performance diagnostic performed. And run the LOWEST octane that your car allows. Too high octane lowers performance with the slower burn, essentially less voliatile burn.
Check tire pressures and driving habits.

Hi i have put 10 fuel in my audi a4 but the gauge hasent moved

You have either bad fuel gauge or fuel level sensor.
I had replaced few level sensors on AUDIs , and never the gauge , but who knows.
The test with diagnostic scaner needs to be performed for instrument cluster and after that it may verify one out of two - gauge or sensor.

Needs more speed on the car and want to do the turbo boost over

Loved Landsend reply, very ignorant. This is one of the best vehicles to modify with a powerful reliable engine. The 1.8T is one of the best turbo engines in the road. In the internet you will find many reliable companies that have bolt on mods for this engine. To raise the HP to around 215-225 start off with an ECU chip, APR makes a very good one. Beware of cheap chips, a real one goes for around $500.00, there are some out there for less than $250.00; they are a rip off and don't work. There is another company that makes a program, I think APR also has one, that can be directly downloaded to your car's ECU, but you have to go to an authorized dealer who will download the program to your car, this is a few dollars less expensive than the chip and have the advantage that you don't have to send your ECU to the chip manufacturer to have the chip installed, which means downtime of your vehicle. Also, add a cold air intake. With these mods there is not much that needs to be done to your Audi as far as suspension, brakes, etc. Just buy good quality brake pads (ECB is an example), and lower your vehicle; HR Sport Springs with Bilsteing Sport shocks work great and not expensive. If you Audi has the optional sport suspension, no need for the springs. When it comes time to change your clutch go for a Stage II, only a few dollars more than the OEM.

From their you can do many things, I've seen daily street driven Audi 1.8T with 375HP+, and they last. But, it all depends on your wallet size. There is a $6,000.00 bolt on kit that takes your vehicle to 350HP+.

Remember after you go past 225HP in your Audi start thinking about bigger brakes, and better suspension. You can have 1000HP, but if you cannot put that power to the ground, nor can't stop the vehicle on time, the 1000HP are useless.
