thank you for the info. could still use info on removal and installation if possible. again, thank you.

I just removed the crankshaft position sensor and it is very easy. an 11mm socket and a 6 in extension. 1 bolt on each side (2) and it's out. be careful not to drop the top bolt into the hole in the bell housing.

I acn give the position of the crankshaft
it is located on the rim of the bell housing at 11:00 if you are facing front, 1:00 if you are standing in the front looking back.

Unfortunately, there is rarely a site. it would be written instructions only with no illustrations. most items involving repair of a vehicle are copyrighted to repair manual publishers (and can't be used online), or the Corporation that made the vehicle. the corporation provides a private database to dealerships that the public cannot access.

Sensor is at the 11 o'clock position on the bellhousing even with the flywheel (looking from the rear) on the drivers side. The harness connector is near the master cylinder.

The crankshaft position sensor located @ 11:00 on the rim of the bell housing from the driver position. seems to be a very common problem on the Cherokee. They cost between $70 and $80. or $250 installed.
