How to fix oil from getting in the spark plug chamber

On my 01 Pontiac with the 3.4 in it. I changed the spark plugs and only one had oil all over it. The inside part. What would cause that?

if the oil is on the ceramic insulator at the plug electrode gap then that indicates the excessive oil is getting into the combustion chamber
that could be from failed valve stem seals or uncontrolled sump oil from scored bore and broken ring
if the oil is mild I would suggest as a temporary fix to get a hotter plug for that cylinder
by that I mean go to the spares shop , read the catalogue for plugs and find a plug listing that shows colder to hotter plugs and get the hottest plug available

I have oil on my spark plugs I need to know what to look for?

A spark plug shorted by excessive oil entering the combustion chamber is shown below. This is often caused by piston rings or cylinder walls that are badly worn. Oil may also be pulled into the chamber because of excessive clearance in the valve stem guides, or badly worn valve stem seals.

If the PCV valve is plugged or inoperative, it can cause a buildup of crankcase pressure. This condition can force oil and oil vapors past the rings and valve guides into the combustion chamber.

P0331 Code on 200 Pontiac

P0331 Spark Knock has not been sensed

The spark knock or ping is 2 flame fronts colliding in the combustion chamber, the shock wave of which can eventually blow holes through the piston crowns if severe enough. In late model engines the causes can include:
- fuel octane too low
- EGR system malfunction
- knock sensor (if equipped) malfunction
- PCM software not retarding ignition timing as required
- high engine operating temperature
- lean fuel mixture
- carbon deposits on piston crowns/combustion chambers

Hope helps.

Oil in #2 spark plug chamber. How do I fix

This is not good. There are two ways to get oil in your case, valve guides..requiring a head job, worst case, blow by the piston, requiring an overhaul. Wish the news was better. Good Luck! I hope you find this very helpful!

I have an oil leak in a spark plug chamber how do is fix it

depends where the oil came from.of it has leaked down from a valve cover gasket, that is not hard to fix.if it a leaking valve seal that is expensive and if the head gasket is leaking, expensive.look at the outside edge of the valve cover, and check the edge for oil.if there is alot of oil,by the time the plug is unscrewed oil can go inside.the oil would burn off,so if there is oil inside it is dripping down probably from a valve seal.take off the valve cover and inspect the seals they are probably no good.there are 2 seal sets, one is in the valve cover, and that results in oil on the outside of the plug, and the actual valve seal which results in oil in the inside of the engine.
