Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer
2000 blazer was running good. Stopped for some groceries and when I returned to vehicle it would not start. Vehicle turned over but would not fire. Engine did not even attempt to start, it just turned over. While turning over, the engine appeared to have a significant amount of vibration. This was never present before.
Had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop. According to the mechanic, about 1/2 hour after I dropped the vehicle off he attempted to start vehicle and it fired right up. He kept the vehicle for the better part of the next day starting and stopping the vehicle. It did not fail again. Mechanic stated that he felt the fuel pump was the issue! He also gave me a "off the top of his head quote" of around $600.00 to install a new pump. To his credit he also stated that he didn't want to just replace it as it was working fine.
I'd like to feel comfortable with this vehicle bur I am now always feeling that it won't start every time I take it out for a drive.
Question: Should I just go ahead and replace the fuel pump and if so is this something I can do myself?
No dont replace the pump just yet, i had the same problem 2 years ago and it has never happened since. it just the pump had a power surge upon turning ignition off and it had to cool off before working again. if it does happen again then get a chilton's service book and change it yourself. book about $30 and very explainatory. good luck
