Gauges work by have 12 volts supplied to one side, and other wire goes to the sending unit to furnish ground through variable resistor. With two gauges acting up, sounds like a short to ground somewhere and that short could also be effecting trans operation. There are special tools that can be used to help find shorts. Ask at parts store.

Honda accord instrument cluster

Most times it is relative to the code settings in the cars computer brain. The dealership has the tools to reset the codes and get this back in operation. You do not have the necessary tools.

check the fuse block for a blown fuse, the one that controls dash gauges should be identified in the owner's manual.

Guages not working,

If all voltages checked ok,then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected.Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok,then also it can be faulty.Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such prolem arises.
Also check the fuse box.One under hood and other under dash.Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

90 astro, gas gauge goes to full then drops when shifted into gear to near empty

The grond wire near the transmission mount has failed. The crossmember that goes under the rear transmission mount has the wire harness for the fuel pump and the gas gauge on it. This grond bolt is a steet metal bolt screwed into the top of the cross member near the middle of the vrhical on the passenger side. To repair this problem find this bolt and unscrew it, clean the cross menber and the bolt and the wire. ( they might look clean but they need scraped off) to make sure you fix it I attach another peice of wire under this same bolt and run it up to the battery box. following the negitive battery cable it attaches to the body near ther battery with another bolt . clean this connection also and then attach your new wire to your newly attached wire. It's possible to fix it just cleaning these and other ground connections till you find the one thats not making. The japaniese cars always already have these ground wires on all cicuits and don't have these kinds of problems like this american one does.
