Question about 1995 Ford Crown Victoria

1 Answer

My 1996 Crown Vic. recently started to buck and backfire a bit, turned out to be a misfire on #4, have been looking into it with a bit of progress but not complete success

I have a 1995 Crown Vic' that has 102000km, it recently started to sputter and buck a little accelerating, I then replaced the plugs, coil packs, TPS sensor, checked vacuum lines, cleaned MAF sensor and still does a bit but not as bad it seems...what could this be at such low milage?

I have faced the same thing with my car, this is not a single answer to this problem. It could be a bad boot on the coil pack, it could be a improper coil install, sometimes the spring does not sit in well, it could be that the intake manifold is leaking, it could be that the egr valve is stuck, it could the exhaust manifold is leaking, sometimes these issues are not caught by the OBD 2 sensors, you can try to move the coils around to see if that works out.

SOURCE: severe hesitation, bucking

Change the plugs and the rotor insode the distributor. Sounds like your focus has either a hole in the Rotor Button, a cracked rotor button or the plugs need to be changed. Anotehr thing that would make your focus stall, **** and generally be a pain in the **** is: Fuel injectors out of hole; bad fuel injector; bad gasoline; Air filters need changing.

Those are basically some of the things that cause the Focus to jump and ****.

SOURCE: Ford Crown Vic p0300 random cylinder misfire

take a look at the EGR valve it could be either vacum controlled or electronic either way what seems to be the problem is that the valve is stuck in the open position until the engine warms up you can gently tap the egr valve with a small hammer or a screw driver and you can see that it runs smooth, now if the egr valve is vacum controlled replace the valve. if it is electronoc controlled replace the valve and the module for the egr valve.

SOURCE: bad coil pack on crown vic

well if you have checked the spark plugs and they look good then its probly the coil If the plugs have never been replaced i would start with a tune up and see if this fixes the problem. If not there is no good way for you to test it you would need a computer to hook up to the car

run it at night with it dark under the hood and see if you have any sparking from the wires to ground or any other shorts. also replace the fuel filter and run a can of seafoam in your tank on your next gas fill.

Engine cranks but will not start

Have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump---pressure regulator and filter- The carbon on a plug indicates excess fuelling, either from bad injectors or over pressure.. Back firing in the exhaust is from unburnt fuel accumulating in the exhaust system and igniting . Misfiring is always thought to be plugs and leads but injectors and fuel pressure play an equal role in that area.

Hi, I'm getting codes 136 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 along with 301 cylinder 1 misfire and 304 cylinder 4 misfire. Could the 136 be caused by the misfires ? I'd like to just swap out the plugs, but, they...

I wouldn't worry about the 02 code it will clear when you replace the coils. to be positive that the coils are bad, swap them with another cylinder and see if that cylinder misfires. 90% of the time it's the coil. Let me know

I have a 1996 crown vic i need to know these touble codes po305 po304

P0304 means that cylinder 4 has a misfire and P0305 is a cylinder 5 misfire. What this means is you may have bad spark plugs, or bad plug wires, or you may need to replace your distributor cap and rotor. I would start with plugs and wires.

Replace you Maf sensor and have a nice day. lol does the hesitation go away when you let off the gas. does it buck hesitate and misfire under load? most common problem is the maf sesnor.
easy to change. don't buy a used part it may develop the same problem after a little while. you can try cleaning the wire inside with brake cleaner (not intake cleaner). it may or may not help.
