Subaru Legacy Lancaster 1999 The climate control OFF not working

The OFF button in the central ring of the climate control no longer switching off. This has suddenly occurred. Climate control is still working but is fixed in the on position.

Probably worn buttons,it needs to be removed and pulled apart as it may require adjusting worn pieces,or just replace the unit if you cant service it

Climate control


there are a few bulbs used to light up that unit. if you remove the unit from the dash you can access the tiny bulbs from the back with a screw driver and needle nose pliers

hi this is a common problem as these cars have weak rings in the motor it will really only keep getting worse and there isnt a quick fix sadly. The engine will need pulled out and rebuilt with new seals and rings thats about the only way to repair the problem unless you can get a cheap replacement

1999 subaru legacy vent is stuck on defrost


This sounds like the control panel. 90% of the time something gets spilled on the control panel from the cup holders right above, The buttons get gummed up and no longer push the switches behind the button. remove the control panel and dissassemble it, soak the non electronic parts in hot water with light soap, problem solved, My 98 Outback had the same problem.

What oil would i use in my 1992 Legacy Subaru? It is an AWD


cold climate 5W-30W, hot-moderate climate or long commutes at high speeds 10W-30W, these engines are designed for light oils,(very tight clearances) heavy oil's can starve the main and rod bearings of start up lubrication..
