The check engine light is most likely on due to an emissions system problem with the engine. This can result in obvious performance issues, but sometimes a vehicle will still seem to run fine, even with a problem. To continue to drive the vehicle could result in other problems, so: Most parts stores will scan for codes for free, explain what they mean, and give advice on how to fix the problem. You really need the codes to determine why the light is on, and why you are having problems with the jeep's performance. If you still have questions after getting the codes, post them here with further questions for help. Let me know how you make out.

The most likely problem is the crank sensor , as far as check eng light find out what code it is that might help. Codes on little code readers are sometimes just a general discripition that could even lead you in the wrong direction. most of the time the fuel system does not trip the light. so rule that out for your question, not to many sensors will stop the motor that leaves the crank sensor which is a jeep night mare they always go out. it will be located in the top of the bell housing where the eng and trans go together. on the 6 cyl you can most of the time lean over the engine and see it. it will have one small bolt holding it in and then the little wire harness to unplug.

94 wrangler 4.0 fuel pump wont turn on

If your check engine light does not illuminate when you turn the ignition on then your jeep ecu is in need of repair. The check engine light has to be on for the fuel pump to get power. Try leaving the ignition key in the on position for a few minutes to see if the check engine light does eventually come on and if the fuel pump starts to work then.

1995 JEEP WRANGLER 2.5L HARD START COLD 1 START OF THE DAY

When you're trying to start it for the first time of the day, look at the dash to see if the check engine light is on when you first turn on the ignition. If the check engine light is not lit up, your Jeep ecu is in need of repair and the vehicle will not start until that check engine light finally comes on.

Check engine light stays on - 2003 jeep liberty sport - 87,000 miles

Dear Madam or Sir,

If the "Check Engine Light" comes up, the on board diagnosis system of your vehicle has detected an error with the petrol injection system, a faulty sensor, stuck servo motor etc. for example.

The light indicates the recognition and storage of an digital trouble code to the system´s memory to the driver. You should see a mechanic to check the ECU (engine control unit) for saved trouble codes.

Please don´t hesitate too long to prevent the engine from serious damage.

If work was performed either without permission from you, ie: o2 sensor? they cannot charge you for it. If work done is sub- standard, you have the right to a refund or correction to problem (at no charge) If any work done fails within 60 days, Same applies. (this is common to most state laws)
Noise and discharging sounds like a broken serpentine belt or bad alternator but I can't see/hear it from where I'm sitting. In my opinion, if the shop did not adress this problem, shame on them. But since they did no repairs related to this, they have no liability pertaining to that issue. Best thing to do is to have them resolve problems they caused, then find a more reliable shop to service your vehicle in the future!
Your state may have a complaint resolution department as part of DMV. It wouldn';t hurt to get them involved in this>
Good luck, RS
