My Jeep Cherokee 95 Radiator temperature is always hot

My Jeep Cherokee 95 Radiator temperature is always a little above 100 deg. Is this normal ? When turning on the A/C its there, as soon as i drive the jeep or turn off the A/C it comes down a little. Also when parked and A/C turned ON; the jeep starts overheating .. but dont know if around 105-110 is normal temperature or not. Climate here is very hot around 40-43 deg. in the day time.

100 degrees f? That is way too cold Either you have the wrong thermostat or it is wide open. 180 degrees is nominal and give you the best performance.. With AC on, expect 190 to 200 degrees. We are talking farhrnheit and not ccelsius, correct?

There is a good chance the head gasket is leaking.
If the air flow thru the radiator is good, and the coolant flow is good, there could be something like an exhaust restriction that is causing extra heat, or the head gasket may be leaking.
Will it get hot just sitting still, or do you have to be driving it ?

Did you controlled the cooling fluid? Maybe you have not enough.

I have an automatic 1997 4.0litre Jeep Cherokee Ltd. A few months ago whilst towing I noticed that the temperature gauge was fluctuating from just above 40 to over 100. Very shortly afterwars the radiator...

guess, here in net bunny land.?
sure, that is coolant lose. the gauge can measure air temps
so goes goofy. all do with air there.
so find and fix that leak.
its a pressurized system 14psi, so any leaks will be very serious.

98 JEEP CHEROKEE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE JUMPS AROUND TO HOT- BACK TO NORMAL, TO HOT WHILE DRIVING- JUST REPLACED THE RADIATOR. COULD THIS BE A THERMOSTAT PROBLEM?

did u bleed the air from the cooling system? if not u need to do that, u have air pockets getting around the thermostat, to bleed raise the front up as high as poss with a floor jack, fill the radiator and coolant recovery tank as full as poss, then run engine until it reaches normal temp, then shut it down and run cold water over the radiator, this will draw the coolant out and the system will bleed the air out.

Jeep Grand Cherokee running hot. I've changed the

Check your radiator for external and internal obstructions (leaves, bugs etc on the a/c condenser or leaves between the condenser and radiator, rust or calcium deposits inside the radiator core all cause loss of heat transfer)
Also make sure that the system is full and that the electric fan and the clutch fan are operating properly. (electric fan should come on just above normal operating temp and clutch fan should not be "freewheeling" above temp either)
Note: If you need to have the radiator flushed, do it separately from the engine. especially the inline 6 and 4 engines rust up inside and if the system is flushed with the radiator connected, the debris will pack up inside it and actually can worsen the condition.

Radiator fan stays on after long hot drive.

Check your relay. I believe one of the terminal connections is an always hot connection. If your relay has gotten stuck in the on position, it will cause your fans to remain on.

I had a new water pump installed on my 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo as it was leaking. After the installation, the temperature gage is still running hot. Could it be the thermostat?

Thought I answered this one already. but here's the short version. Yes , change the t stat after servicing wp. They become unreliable after any high temps (above normal). Check the electric fan, and the mechanical fan to make sure both are working properly. If all else fails. remove radiator and back flush. often overheat or high temps can loosen block rust and obstruct part of the radiator core.
When re-filling, turn heater on high to eliminate air pockets in system.
Good luck with it

Check gauges light comes on

Sounds like a CPU problem. your radiator may need a good flushing a s well. i would also check the heater core for any unusual problems like seal break or leakage.

What does your temperature gauge say? Make sure you're not overheating. Steam is always an indicator that something is amiss with the radiator. Never open it when it's hot!
