The park unit is a pall the fits into square shaped notches in the gear box on a planetary gear and so acts as a lock . If it is not working it may be because the pall is not in the correct position to engage ( check selector lever adjustment) it is stuck or the square segments are no longer square but "v " shaped

check that you have brake lights. fords are well known for wire to brake light switch breaking, repair wiring if broke. replace brake light switch if not working brake lights and wire ok and fuses ok. recommend checking with test light before replacing. just ground test light clip, touch 1 side of switch and should light up tester, other wire should light up only when applying brakes. if this doesnt solve issue, seek professional help via electrical repair shop or ect...
