The transmission fluid gets dirty especially over a period of time and the filter gets clogged and gunk builds up. This will cause the transmission to slip and you should check the transmission fluid stick at least twice a month to make sure it is at the proper level or have your transmission tuned up by a trained professional at a dealership or transmission shop once a year. Plz have fluid and filter changed in transmission. Sounds like filter is clogged and starving transmission of fluid until it warms up and thins out the fluid..Hope this helps.
