Transmission slips in 2001 honda civic

Well Katie, I don't want ruin your day, but your trans is failing. Not much you can do at this point except have it repaired/replaced. Honda's very rarely have electrical/control issues with their transmissions. Typically problems are due to a clutch pack or bearing failure, that contaminates the fluid and causes valves in the valve body to stick. Civics in particular are prone to forward clutch pack failures.

If 4th gear is good, no slipping, then your transmisson is toast. Replace with a known good working one.

1997 Chev. Z-28 Camaro shifts from 2nd to neutral sometimes, other times it does it from 3rd to 4th. Also won't downshift from 4th to 2nd in drive. trouble code 1870 appears, transmission has been rebuilt...

code p 1870 refers to transmission component slipping
the transmission may need clutch and band adjustment or a pump pressure test check as it may not be producing enough pressure to keep components in place

It is a 5 speed manual transmission? If it is noisey in all gears except for 4th, then the problem is countershaft bearings.

4l60e slips in 3rd and 4th

There are to many things that can cause this problem, best thing to is go get the ECM scanned for DTC codes at a transmission shop or Auto zone or Parts Source since they scan for free.
The ECM should have DTC code in it's memory on how the transmission is Performing and have the Transmission line tested for Fluid pressure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and also ways check with more then on transmission shop if there tell you that you need a new Transmission,
It could be a simple as the transmission filter falling off causing the lost of transmission fluid pressure. Check the transmission fluid too.
