Gear lever balls ( if original ) are normally screwed on with a right hand thread . They are locked in place by a lock nut at the bottom under the ball and when that nut is screwed on further the ball becomes loose and can be taken off.. If the ball is over a flat bar then look for a hex headed grub screw near the bottom of the ball

If you move the shifting lever in my truck it doesn't move the gears. I took the lever out and it seems to be missing a piece. It goes in the middle in some google pics it seems to be black. Any help?

If you have a stick shift that goes directly into the top of the box, the problem could be a missing pivot pin in the ball at the bottom of the stick
under that ball and directly at the end if the stick is a smaller ball that should have a plastic cup attached
that cup fits neatly into the selector rail slots
if it is missing ( probably broke up and fallen to the bottom of the box) the shift will be very sloppy
if the pivot in the turret is missing ( probably fallen out on the raid) the lever has no leverage point to move the selector rails

My 2010 impala is starting, but the shift stick

It sounds like the Park/ Brake Interlock is not working, your car is a 2010 it should be covered under warranty still, take it back to the dealer and let them fix it.

Help im having problems selecting 1st and 2nd gear and the gear stick is very lose on my 99 206 any ideas?

there is a central plastic ball fitted to your gear stick. Open the leather cover and check every single ball (i.e one in center, 2 on the side and locking balls of gear wires). May be you need to remove the whole central console to have a look at your gear stick main frame. Its not complicated but time consuming. It better to take it out and check it completely rather than having the same problem again. The problem with gear shifting could be on gearbox side as you only mentioned the 1st and 2nd gear. But sort this thing out then you'll know better. If you need any help then pls inform.

"TC off" light comes on sometimes and stays on

You may have a brake caliper sticking causing the sensor to trigger. This would also partially explain the hard shifting if the E-brake is dragging.

2006 Chevy Impala stuck in park

When you turn ignition on it releases a cable that is attached to the shifter also the shifter has a solenoid attached to it that is released when you step on the brake. Both times that I had the problem of button stuck and cant shift out of park the solenoid was sticking and wouldnt release .
