Tan color... or creamy color is kind of a bad thing... But, before I panicked, I would change the oil and filter and start from a new beginning.... IF, after running it for a day or two, you again have a problem, you are somehow getting water or engine coolant into your motor oil.. and that can happen several different ways..... and most of the ways are "bad"... Good luck...

SOURCE: OIL IN MY RADIATOR

Some cars are equiped with an engine oil cooler. I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but when the this cooler;s gasket fails, it will leak coolant into the radiator. It is a very hard repair that needs to be done by a good mechanic with a good reputation. Then on the other hand it may be a cracked engine head. It is either one or the other. Both are costly to repair. The cooler repair will go for about $400 plus labor. The Head replacement is probably more. You can weigh the consequences and see if you want to do this yourself if you are mechanically inclined. Sorry bro.

SOURCE: oil mixing with coolant

If this is a 3800, Upper Intake Plenum or Lower intake gaskets are an inevitability. Head gaskets on these engines rarely go out! Seriously, don't get duped. I am doing the job on my grand prix right now. Google it for further explanation.

SOURCE: oil guage drops then goes to high range

sounds like your sending unit needs to be replaced cheap fix and if your oil pump losses all its pressure you will begin to hear knocking coming from your motor from the top under the heads.

sounds like a blown head gasket or a head gasket gettin ready to blow which is common on older cars with excessive mileage on them. If that's the case once the gasket fully breaks the car will more than likley shut down on you. It's a big job to replace them because the the whole top end of the engine has to be removed. And if you can't fix it yourself and have to take it to a mechanic the cost will probably be more than the cars worth.

Water get into oil

Water in oil makes the oil go grey / milky or white . Check the cooling system by a pressure test and if it is holding then it will not be water in the oil.. If you are referring to transmission oil then the tan colour indicates burnt oil, and must be replaced. Water in that oil will also be a white cherry/ milky colour.

I was putting oil in my car and realized it was actually water and dirt in an old bottle. I haven't driven yet. What do i do?

take some clean oil maybe 2 or 3 quarts and pour into the engine. the clean oil will wash the dirt and water into the oil pan. then drain the oil, change the filter, and refill with new oil. you where very observant to notice the problem and very smart not to drive the car.

My 2002 impala have too much oil in my engine. ? How to drain it out ?

Remove the oil pan drain plug. If it is very over filled, check and make sure there is no water in the oil. If the oil is the color if coffee with milk (tan colored) then you definitely have water in it and most likely a leak in the head(s).

I have a 95 blazer thats leakin tan like oil can u tell me whats that problem its leakin on drive side

Hi :) Tan colour oil is water and oil mixed together or greenish tan is antifreeze and oil That sounds like a head gasket leak coming from the left bank of the motor.Check the dip stick it might be showing up in the oil too.Head gaskets are around $60.00 plus labour as long as the head is not warped or cracked.

Oily coolant 2

Hi myxj87 -

It is possible that you have motor oil leaking into your cooling system. A common cause of this condition is a bad head gasket. Since both coolant and oil flow through the cylinder head (through their respective passages), a bad head gasket would allow for cross-contamination. Does the car still run well? Have you noticed any coolant in the oil whilst doing oil changes?

Gas smell in oil

The white strip of fluid on the oil is a slight amount of coolant getting into the oil . The water could be from condensation on the dip stick. I would drain the oil and just put regular recommended oil in it with a new filter. I would pull the spark plugs and check for any coolant or oil residue on them. Then drive the vehicle a little and check the performance. If there is unusual noise from the engine then or blue smoke from the tailpipe the engine has internal damage.

Assuming the engine performance stays the same. There could be a fuel injector sticking intermitantly.
