Question about Ford Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Autostart model as 1200I have a 2002 Ford 5-150 4x4 that has a remote starter system, AS-1200, with a tranponder by pass unit. I dont not have the remote fob for this. My problem is I am having some rough idle problems that are intermitent. I get a rough idle, and what seems a break in the firing during acceleration. While this happens the red theft light appears and flashes. I am wondering goes my problem of this intermitnemt miss have anything to do with the remote start or the bypass for it?

Should have nothing to do the remote switch...could be tune-up related, fuel problem, dirty air filter or fuel filter.

SOURCE: Rough idle, Car shakes, sputters and misfires upon acceleration

It sounds like you may have a problem feeding the fuel to your engine, I had the same problem with my 89 RS. All the 1989 model's fuel systems were recalled. I think you may need a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank in the rear of the car right under the rear axle. The fuel pump itself isn't too expensive, but with other small parts such as the electrical harness upgrade and fuel filter and the labor you should be looking somewhere in the $500 range. I hope this helps.

no problem. If you are getting that low of voltage on a load then you might want to test the alternator as well to make sure it is running at capacity.

SOURCE: dont know how to reset or bypass gm theft system car is not starting .It tries and quits.

this is one way to reset it :
first make sure the battery is fully charged , then do the following:
key in the ignition but do not crank the motor, just leave it at the
ignition mode for ten minutes ,then turn it off POSITION for 5 seconds then REPEAT again 2 more times. at the 3 rd time youre gonna notice the ANTI THEFT light on dash to blink. when doing the last step , remove key , inserted again and turn on motor , good luck , AJ

2002 chevy malibu...can i get a remote starter to by pass the anti theft system

What makes you think this is a anti-theft system problem ? Is the security light lit on the insturment cluster ? When you turn the key to start does the starter spin the engine ? Crank no start ! Or when you turn the key to the start position the starter does nothing . No crank no start . A aftermarket remote start won't by pass anti-theft system . Your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop and have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Before you let someone start hacking up wiring circuits .

DTC P1630

DTC P1632

Do you know what DTC'S are , these would point to an area of trouble an to a fix .

My remote car starter from autostart on a grand am 03 won't start or locks won't work after it died for about a week then changed the batteries

Check to be sure the new battery is a good new one, they set on the shelves for some time ya know. Then make sure it goes in the correct direction. Then refer to your owners manual if it needs reprogrammed.

1994 integra

Many autostart devices also have security systems incorperated, first I would try to arm and disarm the system then try to start again. Then check the autostart controll unit to see if there is a reset or fuse. If not a reset often times there is a disable for the autostart witch will allow you to diagnos the starting problem without the aftermarket device. If non of that helps post your next message with an update plus make and model # for the autostart.

Remote starter quit now auto wont start with key 1996 ford tautus

I had the same problem when ford installed an AutoStart with the purchase of my bran new 2008 Fusion.
At first, they said it was a conflict betwen the remote starter and the security system on the car. They fiddled with it for months and then fixed that issue, but then, when ever the car would be started with the remote starter, every time I would open a door, any and all door access prior to putting the key in the ignition, the horn would start to go off. If you opened a door, close the door and then open it again, the horn would have gone off with every time you opened the door. This game could go on for hours. My neighbours were not very happy with me at 7am departures. They then again worked on this problem all summer long and then just around Christmas of 2008 they decided to remove the AutoStart starter (which is a much better product) and install a genuin Ford starter. This solved the problem with the horn and the failed starts, but being that I live in the north, where it is not unusual for the morning temperatures to go as low as -25C to -40C, you really want a warm car in the morning. Now when I start the car between 0C and -10C, all is good. Any colder and the car starts but fails to turn on the heater, even though I leave the temp control set to heat up to +25C. Ford has no idea what they are to do next, though they claim to be talking to high end engineers at Ford Canada now. Oh, btw, my Service manager told me I was full of BSH#$T when I told him that the remote still fails to function correctly. Up until one year of efforts to resolve the issues at hand, my local dealership's solution to the problem was to simply offers to remove the starter, since they thought all was working. I guess, FINALLY, they are slowly but surely finding out that they have more issues than they were aware of.
I now have found out that Fusions are well known for starter problems. It is not a problem of the starter but rather a problem of the car itself. Not a car or company I would ever recommend.
Get rid of the car and get one that is actually usable and functional.
