the rattling sound may be detonation occuring in the combustion chambers . This is spontaneous combustion and occures from incorrect air/fuel ratio for faulty sensors that control that area , IT will also come from incorrect timing of the ignition. IT is detrimental to an engine . Run fault codes and check for any sensor that controls the air/fuel mixture including the o2 sensors.

  • rodrigo reyes Mar 24, 2014

but i do not have any lights on. should i still check the fault codes. i am a little worry because maybe something in the engine could be loose or something even worst.

  • rodrigo reyes Mar 24, 2014

could any of these make that noise, i always put the lowest gas i think its 87, since i had the car since 05 ive never had change the spark plugs or the transmission fluids. Could any of these things also make that noise.how can i check the sensor? i have to go to a mechanic to plug in the computer is that correct.eventhough there is no lights on can they still see if theres something wrong. thanks for your hel

autozone will check the fault codes for zip

  • rodrigo reyes Mar 25, 2014

from the previous comment i have posted could any of those things be making the ratling sound

  • rodrigo reyes Mar 27, 2014

any other solutions i could get. the noise is driving me crazy

  • Bill Boyd Mar 28, 2014

the noise is only over 40 and that is wht is throwing us. It most likely will not be engione as any engine failure gets worse as the rpm's increase. If it is an auto remove the inspection cover under the bell housing and check for a cracked flex plate .

  • rodrigo reyes Mar 29, 2014

where can i find this? where is the inspection cover under the bell housing?

  • Bill Boyd Mar 29, 2014

the tin cover that covers the lower half of the flywheel

  • rodrigo reyes Apr 01, 2014

that has nothing to do with the engine? can i check that myself or do i have to take it to the a mechanic? Thanks so much for all your help

  • rodrigo reyes Apr 01, 2014

could it be that the something in the crankshaft might be loose or borken?

  • Bill Boyd Apr 02, 2014

unlikely as tehnoise would be there from start and get louder as you accelerated.

  • Bill Boyd Apr 02, 2014

    read the noise (tehnoise)

  • rodrigo reyes Apr 02, 2014

what do you mean read the noise (tehnoise)?

  • Bill Boyd Apr 03, 2014

tehnoise is a typo error and it should read the noise.

  • rodrigo reyes Apr 03, 2014

where can i check that? is there a special place to check that.

  • rodrigo reyes Apr 07, 2014

i read online that the pullies might be defected? could it be the pullies?

It may more than likley be one of the pulley's a quick way to figuring out if this may be the problem is to start the car and while its running spray some wd40 on each pulley and then take the car for a drive over 40mph if it makes the rattling sound around there, do this 1 pulley at a time and if it stops making the sound or it gets quieter after you sprayed with wd-40 then it means that the bearings on that perticular pulley is shot and needs to be repalced either by just pressing in a new bearing or to biy a new pulley it self. This is the perfect oppertunity to just replace all the pulley's with a set of lighter billett units, i would just change all of them at the same time because if one is shot theres a good chance the rest will go real soon, if that noise bothers u, just keep spraying wd-40 as needed until you have replaced it as this will either stop the noise or make it quieter, hipe this helps!

Have the cat converter check for internal failure. Check for small rocks between the exhaust pipes and the heat shields.

check for broken/ failed engine mounts and reaction rod bushing allowing metal to metal contact

  • Bill Boyd Apr 04, 2014

if you do not know whyere the engine mounts are then your checking them will be poinless as you will not know what to look for. Take it to a mechanic is good advice

Struts noise?

I would tend to believe it's more likely a worn sway bar bushing or link if it's a rattle or a small clunk, if it's a loud clunk probably a strut, try bouncing he back of the car when parked, if you get the clunk probably a strut if only when driving, turning, braking probably just a bushing on the sway bar

May well be. You might want to check your coolant. If you're low (but not yet overheating) your fan will come on more often.
