SOURCE: Ford F-150 starting problem

replace the fuel regulator, its about a $50.00 part and takes about 15 minutes to change, but first relieve the fuel pressure and you can do it in a couple of ways, hitting the fuel pump shut off swith(inertia switch)until the red button pops up,but remember to reset it when done, located either behind the passengers side kick panel or under the carpet in the middle under the dash then start it to run it out of gas which there will still be a little bit in the lines,...or drain it at the valve to check for pressure it looks like a valve stem for a tire.

SOURCE: Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.

SOURCE: 1990 Ford F150 won't start/Sometimes will start

We are having similar problems. My husband replaced the fuel pump, fuel regulator and now it cranks but dies when you give it a lot of gas. He thinks the fuel injectors are stopped up. I read where one guy replaced the computer and fixed it and another one replaced the EEC. Check the relay contact and clean and check all grounding wires.

more likely to be a sensor, so attach it to a OBD11 code reader.

Fuel pumps either have enough pressure or they don't. Not enough pressure and the car won't start. If it falls low in motion, the vehicle stops.

Okay I've had my Ford Truck for coming up on 18 years, and well it's been great truck... That being said I will say troubleshooting a Ford with all the issues around the electronics, relays and ect. can be a real pain... Make trip to junk yard and get few things.. 1st try swapping out fuel tank selector switch, then fuel pump relay... switch is in cab and relay is in engine compartment on drivers side... if neither does it i bet you anything its the computer itself.. mine was acting up it was doing same thing for awhile.. when that computer starts acting up the problems can vary and all together change... makes troubleshooting next to impossible good luck.
