It appears to me that your engine needs a new thermostat. It must be stuck open. It's supposed to stay mostly closed until your engine coolant temperature gets up to something like 190 degrees F... then it's supposed to keep it up to that temperature stopping or going...

SOURCE: Dodge stratus R/T 2002 antifreeze problem(antifreeze coming out the cap)

First the "service engine soon" light is a manufacturer installed reminder for you to get an oil change or other pre-determined maintenance service done. It is different than the "check engine" light which indicates a sensor malfunction. Secondly, when the engine is cold the thermostat is closed and the antifreeze or coolant is not circulating. The cooling system is a closed system and the tank that the cap is on is not an overflow tank but rather an expansion tank. This tank allows for the expanding coolant that is now hot to leave the engine coolant jackets, that won't expand, into a tank that can expand slightly. When your engine got to normal operating temp., aka.. hot, the thermostat opened allowing coolant to circulate and fill the expansion tank probably over flowing with the cap off. This is a normal operation for your car.

SOURCE: 2002 dodge stratus blower motor

most likely blower motor, or poss connection to motor. however, these vehicles are common for blower resistors as well and would not be a bad idea to replace at all.. i dont think they are that much $$.

SOURCE: 1999 Dodge Dakota heater does not blow hot air.

It is most likely a closed or mostly closed thermostat, cheap fix and very common.

I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus (4cyl) that idles rough (almost stalls out), dies on start up and recently had a flashing engine light (backfire error). Any suggestions? No other issues, water pump and timing...

Could be the idle air control, once these start hanging up inside, they can cause as variety of problems with idle speed (can become wildly random) or simply a failure to idle at all.

These links should help:
Where is the idle air control valve located on 2004 Dodge Stratus

2004 stratus idle air control Bing

This could also be caused by a failing ignition pack.

I changed the oil and air filter on my 2002 Dodge Stratus. Also replaced spark plugs but it still idles rough while in gear.

sparkplug wires are a very common cause of misfires creating rough idling. as they age they tend to leak, meaning the soark jumps out of the casing to a point one the engine its not supposed to. Start there and if u have a check engine light see whats thats on for, its free at most autozones.
